Borrow a dollar bill from one of your spectators. Ask your spectator to make an X on the bill with a Sharpie style marker.

X marks the spot. Stab the Sharpie style marker down through the X on the bill.

The Sharpie style marker is now pierced straight though the bill! Show the bill and the Sharpie style marker from all sides. There are NO FUNNY ANGLES. It's clearly going straight through the bill, and everybody gets a good look.

Now, RIGHT IN YOUR SPECTATOR'S FACE, pull the Sharpie style marker out of the bill. Again, there are NO FUNNY MOVES. The marker comes cleanly through the bill, but THE HOLE IS GONE.

Your spectators are probably going to grab for the bill. That's OK! The bill is completely unharmed. You can hand it out for immediate inspection. The X is still there, but there's NO HOLE!

The SR-71 penetrates almost anything you can imagine: playing cards, business cards, baseball caps, bar napkins, coins, ears and more.

There is such a thing as too much payload. The bigger it gets the more people expect some kind of (for lack of a better word) frills. The device is not examinable, and the sharpie is the first thing they want to see, and it is not examinable at all. And you can't reliably use it as a sharpie for the spec to sign something because it has a 70% accidental exposure rate. Stick with the Stealth Pen.

This pen is one of the highest quality I have seen. It's so simple to use, yet has a strong, visual effect that really amazes people. Not one person I have done it for has figured it out yet!

It's a great trick! It has a huge payload just like the B2-Bomber. It's great cause you can just ask someone to sign a card and then pierce it and heal it. Then give the card out as a souvenir. I gave it 4 stars because it is not examinable, but it is pretty easy to do a switch. Overall great trick

for beginners/starting move Report this review

If you are a beginner, get it. If no one knows that your a magician, it'll catch them off guard. Some people won't think to look at the sharpie, so then it's still a great trick. BUT, most people know enough not to even have to look at the sharpie, so it's kinda dumb. I have used it at a quick trick to get me started into a bigger routine, not worrying about whether or not they know how it works. If they do, then they'll be more impressed with the other material, if they don't, well what's better than a strong opener. The point is, it's not as big as they hype it up to be.

The Blackbird is good for street magic. I wouldn't recommend it for close-up acts, but if you're just kinda doing the trick on the move then it's worth the money.

This trick does get some reactions, but the gimmick is very hard to make convincing and it marked my hands so much that I retired it for the Stealth Pen through dollar which is a much better buy.

Good but too risky Report this review

When you are performing Card magic or Gaffed Card magic 9 times out of 10 you will use a high quality card (Bicycle, Tally Ho) when the effect is performed I get alot of questions that expect to be answered. For example "WHY IS THERE NOT WRITING ON THE MARKER?" I always say its just used up and I always switch it out with a Sharpie that has the markings on it rubbed off. Its not easy to rub the markings off either! But just a little bit of paint thinner on a cloth and presto gone. Alcohol does not work - trust me I know! Anyway, the Black bird has to be switched to be fully examinalbe. The ink is not permenant so its lighter in color. I like the product but its to risky to for my routine. I just stick to the Stealth pen or B-2 Bomber. In other words good but not so user friendly.

Not the best Report this review

When I bought this trick It took me 4 minites to learn it. But the thing is the pen is not inspectable. That's why I dont like it that much. Too many people had figured it out. But it is still a very intelligent prop. BUT I RECOMMEND THE SLEATH PEN, BECAUSE IT'S EXAMINABLE.

its good but not for close up magic Report this review

Like I said, it's good, but not for close up magic, because when the pen goes through the dollar (or whatever) they would want to inspect it, and they'll figure it out in no time, but I highly recommend looking for a duplicate marker like the SR and then you could switch it no problem. My cousin has the B2 Bomber, I think B2 is better cause thats fully inspectible.

P.S.:Penguin Magic rules the whole world of magic tricks.

I love that the blackbird can be put through almost anything. I got huge reactions from my friends and parents, however there are some downsides.

- I constently got ink all over my hands that could not be washed off.
- although it takes almost no time to teach yourself the basic routine, lots of people will want to inspect the marker, in which they will instantly find out the secret.

But if you are the Kind of magician who likes to get reactions fast I would recommend it.
