About Illusion EFX

I got my start as a professional magician as an illusionist. First in talent competitions, then a circus and finally cruise ships and resorts. I was always looking for something new and different to add to my act - however I was constantly faced with the challenge of not enough time or money to do everything I wanted. That's when I started thinking about practical solutions that could be put together quickly and inexpensively.

My first books (Solo-X and Illusion F/X) dealt with these problems. Later on I published the Illusion Impact series (Voodoo Box, Specter Cabinet, etc.) and presented more easy-to-build solutions.

Yet people kept asking me to do a video so they could see ideas in action. This is finally it...

Illusion EFX features seven illusions involving everything from mini motorcycles to audience members. All are easy to build requiring no power tools and not much money.

Whether you're a Las Vegas illusionist looking for something new to add to your act or a high school student looking for something to do in the talent show, Illusion EFX has something you can use.

In Illusion EFX I'll show you everything from a flash mini motorcycle production to a method for walking through a brick wall that'll only cost you . I also show you how to build a Shadow Box illusion for under that folds down totally flat and assembles in seconds.

In the DVD I show you the effect, explain the theory behind the effect, teach you how to make it and then how to perform it. I also show 3D renderings of how illusions are set up on stage so you'll understand all the behind the scenes details.

this is just what i wanted a simple cheap dvd teaching how to make some of the best jaw dropping illusions at home for next to nothing. the dvd teachs so well that even the most unskillful illusionist can make there own props and do so at a very very very cheap cost love the dvd

anyone doing stage magic NEEDS to own this

I'm a little disappointed with this particular DVD. The effects are great, the instructions are clear & easy to understand. However, for me, any type of illusion work that relies on the participation of stooges/assistants is just glorified trickery.
I don't like having to trust others with my secrets nor do I feel secure with having others be responsible for the success/failure of an illusion.
This DVD does have a lot to offer in ways of understanding the psychology of one's audience.
The illusions demonstrated in this DVD are best suited for a team performance.

This is a must buy if your not sure if you want to buy it or not, just get it. Most of the items you can get at a local store. (Walmart was the cheapest place where I got all my stuff). There is only one item that i will need to order online. It should be cheap. BUY IT NOW!!!!!!!!

This DVD was pretty cool. You aren't necessarily getting what you might think though. The illusions aren't very stable but they still look good and can get you off the ground. Plus you can modify a bunch of these to work a little differently or to look more professional. IN one effect ANdrew uses a cardboard brick wall. Obviously that won't last very long. The performances were a little sketchy but the explanations were in good detail and he explains every nuance that can help you. Plus he's a great teacher. I would say if you don't have much to spend your money on or want to branch out a little bit, go for it.

This is such a fantastic investment if you're looking for idea for illusions. I've always hated the phrase (most items you have at home" - I felt I rarely did. With this, I was building my first illusion 20 minutes after I started.I can't recommend this enough.

Andrew Mayne is probably one of the most ingenius people in magic today; I've brought every one of his tricks/books and illusions and each one is just brilliant. This is probably his best DVD because it contains a very generous amount of illusions and shows you how to build each one quite easily and with a small budget. The only downside is that each illusion does end up looking a bit 'home-made' but if that doesn't bother you (or if you just want to know how illusions are done) then I would suggest you get hold of this!

Really liked this DVD. For a traveling magician, he shows you how to build easy, transportable illusions. And if you have a budget like myself, this shows you cheap ways to build great effects! I'd recommend this especially if you are starting off. It provides great insight and resources.

Some great ideas on this DVD that I can see using in my act. By the videos that I have watched of his...he always gets to the point...not a lot of fluff.

Which I like.

I am pretty sure there will be some things you will want to use from this DVD.

Totally worth purchasing.

Illusion EFX works well to suggest cost effective ideas for stage magic to help out budding magicians. however, if you have been doing magic for a while, many of these tricks may already be in your act, or variations on them. but Andrew Mayne really breaks down large stage productions and renders them accessible for the younger generations.
