The sticks are held together, tassels's end facing the audience, one tassel is fully extended. As the performer pulls down on the opposite tassel, the first tassel rises to the stick. He pulls down the first tassel and the second tassel shoots up. Often several sucker bits are used and the normal finale has both tassels fully extended and then rise together.
