The faces of 10 vintage Jokers are shown, then the backs are displayed to be from 10 different casinos that have been demolished. The spectator shuffles the Jokers and lays them on the table. You give them your "lucky" poker chip to hold unseen. They now choose any of the Jokers on the table, and your poker chip matches the casino chip they are holding... every time!

For the second phase, you shuffle face up so they see the different array of Jokers again. Then you fairly deal the 10 cards face down into two piles, giving you and your spectator a 5-card poker hand. You proudly proclaim that they have a "Five of a kind!" with the matching Jokers... you do too, but you turn your cards over to show your 5-of-a-kind happens to be in Spades, as the cards have transformed into the Royal Flush in Spades!

No wonder all those casinos closed!

Easy To Do & Plays Big Report this review

Ok, so I gave this four stars just because I thought Gregory Wilson would be on the DVD explaining the effect. It's not so you are taught well, it's fine but there is no "Pizazz" like you get with Gregory where you learn rapport etc. Watch the trailer after you know how it's done and you'll be fine. Again, nice packet effect, plays big and I would recommend just think Gregory would have given this demo more pizazz and I would have gotten a bit more "presentation" out of it but if you're good at what you do, you'll find your presentation style anyway. Just being picky, lol.

I like vintage style magic. I think it is very natural and funny magic. The quality of the cards and the poker chips is very good. I bought this product and never leave it ...

I loved the effect the minute I saw the trailer. It's very close to my performance style so I didn't have to think twice.
When I opened the case, that the effect comes with, I saw that it was a quality product.
You may need some time to get used to the props and the handling but this effect cannot be considered as a difficult one to master. The props do most of the work for you.

pros:
i)you END UP clean
ii)as Steve says one fase covers the traces of the other so the spectators cannot reverse-engineer anything.
iii)the trick resets in front of the spectators
iv)the instuctions on the dvd are clear and very helpfull. Trully a great job!
v)the props take very small pocket space

cons:
you need to have some audience management

Overall this is a great effect. If it fits your style don't hesitate. Buy and enjoy the casino con.

I really like this trick. The props are nice quality, except for the plastic card holder that doesn't function great for the trick, but its not entirely necessary. It's a solid effect that will fool lay people, and the 2 phases are really strong together. I wish Greg Wilson would have provided instruction, but his performances are included. Overall a great purchase!

I bought this direct from Steve way before its current release (now has DVD). And no, I do not know Steve at all.

This is an awesome effect and I continue to get very good reactions.
Why? Because everyone that I do this for, actually really enjoy the cards from casinos. The jokers look really cool, and people love taking their time picking one out. It's weird, how much they enjoy selecting one! LOL

As I say in the title, it is very easy to do. Allows you to focus on presentation patter.

And all three phases are super cool!

I actually love utilizing other "casino" theme effects with this. Mind Trip (Mark Lee) is one and Miracle Chip (Mark Mason) is another. (A lot of "Marks" in magic!)

Magic of three at it's best! (Thanks Jamie Grant!)

I feel the price is great for what you get and the 3 phases you can use for this.

I am enjoying it. Not selling mine for sure!

Very cool poker trick + easy to do! Report this review

I really love performing this trick and it went over fantastically.

PROS:
1. The unique Jokers the trick comes with from old casinos really get the audience's attention because they've likely never seen these designs before. Same goes for the cardbacks from the different casinos.

2. It's easy. Phase one an elementary student can do & still dazzles. Phase two takes a beginner's amount of slight of hand (and it's taught different ways, so that you can do even less). Hands of all sizes and ages can handle this - it's just a basic count - but please note - it's not a major shuffle, it's a really easy little bit of misdirection.

3. The end of phase two really impresses the audience because they've been with the cards for a while, feel they know them and when they see you present brand new cards they've never even thus far, they're blown away. Also the fact they can immediately reach out and examine the cards without you even touching them also makes for a perfect ending.

CONS:
1. Nothing horrible here, but the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that you can see in the trailer that the audience has chosen a poker chip from a bowl (?) of other old casino poker chips and that then matches the card they wave their hand over. Well, the trick only comes with two old chips from the same casino and you would need to then go out and find/buy your own old casino chips. It seems like you can find five or 10 on ebay for about $20 all said and done. It's not so much the cost that's annoying, but really that even if you do that they don't seem to teach you how to force your chip to the audience if they're selecting from a bowl. I plan to experiment and invent - but it would have been nice to explain that part.

FINAL THOUGHTS: It doesn't matter they only give you two chips, it just means you say it's a magic chip and that wherever the audience member who holds it points, the cards will follow. There's great room for patter regarding what happens when you play poker with jokers as well that you can invent. It's a perfect trick for a poker night - it's fun to do & if it ever comes back in stock here I suggest you to buy it or search it out elsewhere.
