Slydini's Knotted Silks w/ DVD
Out of stock.
Learn a classic of magic from two masters- past and present
Now, for the first time, everything you need to add this classic to your own act is in one place. First, there's instruction from the master himself as Slydini guides you through the routine step by step in the original meticulously written and photo-illustrated manuscript. Then, pop the DVD in your player to watch Bill Malone, one of the world's greatest magicians working today, perform "Test of Strength," his handling of Slydini's classic routine, for an obviously baffled and entertained audience. Then get ready to learn as Bill teaches his routine in minute detail, complete with all of his own handling nuances. The combination of the written word and the visual medium of video have, perhaps, never been used to greater effect. Finally, there are the props-two silks of the exacting requirements for the routine, enabling you to have the right materials to begin the learning process immediately. The mystery and entertainment of the Slydini's Knotted Silks is now within your grasp. The only thing missing from the equation-and a new generation of enchanted audiences-is you!

I got the annotated Slydini Silks set with the booklet taken from the Annotated Syldini book and the Bill Malone DVD. The Bill Malone DVD is okay but he doesn't go into a lot of detail and he doesn't have all of the subtlety of the Slydini routine which I think really makes the routine shine. On the other hand, the annotated booklet is very poorly written and the annotations are horribly confusing.
The "silks" themselves are made out of a parachute material. They look great and are "marked" so that you can see what silk is where when knotted. The silks are very durable but they do start to get damaged by this routine. You can tying very tigh knots and having spectators yank on them with all of their strength so you expect them to get a bit damaged over time. Overall, it is a great effect but it takes a lot of subltety to pull off.

The Slydini Silks is a great routine that has been around for a long long time but is still used today. The silks themselves are really great and make this trick really easy to do. Over time the silks will wear out but you can order other silks that will work too. It won't work quite as smoothly as with the Sly Silks but it will work. You just have to practice with them. This is a great routine for close up or stage that gets the audience involved. If you've never performed this, think about getting it.

This is one of those "perfect" magic tricks. No gimmicks, no setup, audience participation, etc. Since getting this a few weeks ago, I've performed this trick on stage and during close up and every time it gets huge reactions. Bill Malone's teaching is very easy to follow and enough to get you started. The annotated notes are fairly difficult to understand, but if the time is taken to really understand them, they can really add to the performance.

I've been thinking about adding this one for quite some time, and this was the perfect way to do so. Malone's explanations are fantastic which makes learning this so much easier.
