I am starting to be a big fan of Dan Harlan. I got this after watching the Penguin live lecture
because Dan seems to put a lot of thought into his magic and shows, with some very nice effects.
This is a nice DVD that shows Dan running through a complete show and then going over the magic.
Probably the best part of the DVD is Dan showing the packing and setup of the show. I used this
same physical setup for my first birthday show with different effects and it went very well. Dan
sucker trick is updated in his live lecture which is a better version, but all in all this is a
solid DVD. It gives you the confidence that you can pack a 30 min kid show that goes over very big
in a very small package.

ok. what's good about this dvd is learning how to interact with kids. which is more than the bulk of
a battle of a kids show. the magic is do-able and is easy and all, though not necessarily it's
strongest. i would certainly recommend.

Like the other reviewer, I am only a beginner birthday guy, (learning still). I have worked a few
kid shows, but not birthdays. I got this because I wanted to watch a pro, and see how he works, not
necessarily to learn new tricks, though I did that too. The timing here, the humor, how he works his
audience, all of this is extremely valuable stuff he has learned over time. We get to learn it by
watching one video. And learn how to make some neat props in the process. Add to cart.

This has to be my 3rd favorite in this fantastic series of four "Packs Small, Plays Big" series of
DVDs.
As I have stated in other reviews, I feel that these are a GREAT deal. Each one is a FULLY scripted original show by Dan that ALL packs in a briefcase. Personally, I feel that that is worth FAR more than 30 dollars, especially from a funny, creative powerhouse like Dan. This volume however deals almost solely with Kid's Show magic. While you could arguably make some of these effects work for teenagers or adults, I feel that these are suited best FOR kids like they were originally intended. Also, it is quite obvious that Dan had done children's shows before. He has a lot of experience in the field and you can tell; this DVD is filmed for an ACTUAL audience of LIVE kids. This is a good learning experience and something that is ALWAYS fun to watch. I really liked this DVD. Whether I will use any of the material has yet to be decided, but I can assure you that this is worth the money JUST to see Dan performing for live kids. Highly recommended. Did this review help you?
