Very good if you're into PK magic. Some very good work on Uri Geller type spoon bending and watch
stopping. I mostly got it for the Very Modern Mind Reader. The DVD only cost about the same as
buying the Very Modern Mindreader booklet from Richard Osterlind, so technically that one effect is
"worth the price of the DVD". It doesn't suit my performance style but it is a very well thought
out routine and watching Richard perform is always a valuable lesson in showmanship. For that
reason alone I would recommend this to anyone who is serious about actually performing magic and
mentalism as opposed to just learning methods and tricks.

I found this entire series to be a valuable resource on performing and understanding mentalism. If
you want a great place to start with someone who knows his stuff in the area of mentalism this
series is for you. The spoon bending is very good I also found the stopping a watch material
entertaining if not totally practical for myself. This set of DVD's is a great resource in the area
of mentalism. Can't go wrong with mentalism from Osterlind.

I'm a fan of all of Osterlind's work, but the collection on this DVD isn't among my favorites.
Perhaps not so much that the material is weak, but because much of it just doesn't suit
me.
I'm not into metal-bending effects. Sure, maybe we're far enough removed from Uri Geller that metal-bending is no longer synonymous with "fakery", but there's still just no appeal to these effects for me. The large section on watches is becoming more and more obsolete, because many people don't wear watches any more, and if they do, they're digital. The other routines are good and entertaining, but there's nothing that made me think, "Wow, this DVD was worth it just for this". Consisting of effects that are merely "good" along with ones I'd consider irrelevant, makes this one clearly inferior to his many other excellent sets. Did this review help you?
