"This effect will likely give you ideas for other cool effects that you can develop on your own." --Maxwell Murphy, Penguin Magic
The Effect You turn toward one of your spectators, make strong eye contact and ask, Do you believe you have free will? Whatever the answer, you gaze into her eyes for a moment and then sketch a prediction on a slip of paper. You fold it up, and ask her to place it in her pocket. Now you show your spectator five cards, each with a different psychic symbol. You instruct her to shuffle the cards behind her back and slip one of the five cards into a small envelope. Imagine the feeling she experiences as she pulls the paper out of her pocket, un-folds it, and finds that her free choice matches your prediction.
The spectator has a free choice. There is no way you could have seen her choice, let alone altered your prediction to match it.

I like the general idea of the effect, but I've seen much better versions of it. The big problem with this one is that you don't want to put gaffed cards into a spectator's hands, especially when you don't have to.
The better way to do this effect is to have 5 envelopes and put one card in each; mix them, and have a spectator choose one. Open the envelope and show what you need to show them. Then as you recap what has transpired and ask them to retrieve the prediction, clear all the evidence off the table. Then, do the reveal. Far safer and cleaner to do it this way, and in no way is the effect diminished.

Great for Beginners

Here is a great Sankey trick if you are a beginner looking to get into mentalism magic. The cards do all the work for you so you won't need to practice a whole lot before being able to perform it. I think there are some more powerful mentalist tricks out there but if you are just starting out, then pick this up and you'll be happy with it.

Great ESP

Great piece of Mentalism! I have perfomed this several times, with great reactions. NEVER MISS!! Yes, not everything is examinable, but I have never gotten any heat from any performance.
The trick itself is clever, but the cards are not examinable, and the trick takes a while to actually perform unless you rush through it (which is bad). A lot of Sankey's products are clever, but I don't recommend this one
