I like the Poker Deal effect for several reasons. It's practically self-working. It plays just like it looks in the demo. You're not palming, ditching or adding cards. You're just distributing them in a way such that you always win. I also like effects in which the spectator has this much involvement. It really does create the impression that they've been in control, and yet somehow they can't change the outcome. This will baffle all but the most mathematically-oriented spectators.
As for the video, honestly, I was a little put off by the quality. It's full of very hard edits, and in one case, there appeared to be a significant continuity problem. There's no reason why this couldn't have had a more professional look to it. It should've been scripted better, rather than just a disjointed improvisation that needed significant clean-up in the edit room.

My Fav 10 card poker deal
[Verified buyer] by Justin Alan from Bloomington, MN on 04/03/2010 22:38:13
I've played around with other versions of the 10 Card poker deal. Luke Jermay's is by far my favorite version as well as the easiest to do. Each of Luke's phases are progressive and more baffling the easier you make it for them to win.
This can be done with a shuffled deck in play and pull the cards out, or with a stacked and a false shuffle.
You won't be disappointed with this one.

Good but not great
[Verified buyer] by Mark Tirone from New Jersey on 04/03/2010 19:45:08
I can't say this is worth the 12 bucks you spend on this. You learn a really interesting idea but it's not worth it exactly. Plus, if you already know the special something in the trick, you can probably figure it out.
I can't see too many spectators figuring it out, but it's there and could be discovered. But not very likely. As for performances, it takes a slight setup which can probably be done during the performance, but it will take a little while. I can only see this being good for gambling demos, but who knows?

I like it but...
by Sze-To Ho Wai from Hong Kong on 04/03/2010 06:47:52
I like it but unfortunately, I live in Hong Kong and most of my friends (and even my family) don't know how to play poker, therefore, I could not perform this routine for them. This effect is nice, and the method is clever and simple, but I rarely perform it nowadays because of the above reason, so make sure your audience know how to play poker before you perform this routine.

10 card poker

This is a great routine. Luke Jermay explains it very well and in detail. Nothing really new here as far as the routine goes which is why I gave it a 4, but the detailed explanation of subtleties makes this an excellent value. The illusion of giving up complete control to the spectator is what makes this such a fantastic routine.
