Imagine a change so impossibly visual, it looks like trick photography.

This is what we imagined when we first heard of Rapture. We didn’t think it could be possible. If you could perform REAL magic, this is what it would look like. Rapture is a miraculous change, where a card box can appear and disappear in the blink of an eye. Simply wave your hand over a pack of cards and the box suddenly appears around it. Then, in an instant, the box disappears.

A practical method created for the performer.

This isn’t just a trick to be performed for your webcam. Rapture was born for the performer. It uses a simple and practical method that allows you to perform it anywhere and everywhere. The Rapture gimmick utilizes household items and can be constructed in a few minutes. It’s durable enough to be used for hundreds of performances, yet small enough to fit in your pocket. >

One Hour of Instruction :: 3 Routines + Bonus Effect “UPRISING”

In over an HOUR of instruction, Edward Boswell will teach you multiple applications using the Rapture gimmick. You’ll learn how to make the box appear, disappear, and even teleport. Also included is a bonus effect UPRISING: a chosen card is placed on the bottom of the deck, sticking out. Then, as if melting through the deck, it slowly and visually rises to the top.

Rapture is the perfect opener, closer, and everything in between!

Cool Trick but little difficult handling Report this review
Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on July 5th, 2012
It doesn't include gimmick. You have to make your own. But it is not difficult. Within 30 minutes you will make your own gimmick.
First, the good thing about this trick is that it's visual and you can use it for the opener of your card magic act. But there is some disadvantages. The handling is little bit difficult as I said on the title. It has to be precise and needs some practice. The best way to practice this is to look at the mirror and practice it. Oh and I don't recommend this to people who have small hands. And please know that you cannot hand the cards or deck to the spectator.
Anyway my final opinion is, you need to practice and you will get a great reaction!
Hope this helped you guys~~~~

Great Trick, A Few Bumps Report this review

First of, this is a fantastic visual opener/closer. The only issue I have with it is it isn't very small hand friendly. Don't get me wrong, I found a way to make it work for me even with small hands but it isn't easy. You will have to find a slightly altered handling that works for you if you have small hands. Aside from this, it is a easy to make gimmick and it is extremely durable. With practice, the effect is nearly undetectable and highly visual. I've gotten great reactions out of it so far.

Brilliant Gimmick & Awesome Effect - BUT!... Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on April 18th, 2013
Every time I watch the demo of this effect, I think this is hands down one of the coolest effects I've ever seen with cards. Unfortunately, the deck is collecting dust on my shelf because of all its flaws. For starters, when anyone buys a magic trick, the first thing you can't wait to do is unpack it and try it out. So I hate... did I mention HATE? ... any trick where you have to spend the next hour creating your own gimmick after seeking out arts & crafts utensils to do so. Geez, at least give us the option to spend a little more money for the effect with the gimmick included. I would gladly pay more for a working routine. It's like buying a new car and then finding an instruction manual upon receipt on how to build a key so you can drive it! Ok, enough about this gripe.

The more legitimate downside to this trick is in its flaws. It is very angle sensitive, obviously can't be examined before or afterwards, and requires tons of practice to get it right. They say practice makes perfect. Well if this is true and you're willing to put in the time to build the gimmick and perfect the routine, you will admittedly have a incredible gem in your act because I can assure you that there won't be many other magicians out there doing this for all the reasons I already mentioned.

Great effect but a bit difficult Report this review

This trick is an amazing opener,it is a bit difficult for the handling and I do not recommend using a deck that has a very bright or flashy box. Overall great trick and I plan to use it as an opener.

Strong and visual, gimmick takes about a half hour to make and looks solid. handling is very simple but practice will be needed to make this as smooth as butter. I spent the whole weekend just walking around putting practise to my slights (minor)...Im now confident to walk out and do this in the street. Great opener and it teaches a way to end clean with a ditch, actually if you own tko, problem solved and you can hand the deck out with no problem...

A great magic trick, a perfect opener, and ender for a card rutine. The gimmick is very clever, very easy to make and holds long. The handling is a little hard, you have to practice, but its great!

Dont listen to bad reviews Report this review

The gimmick is very easy to make, and i didnt spend a dime making the gimmick, as long as you have a deck of cards, scissors, a knife/ xacto blade, and glue stick/ rubber cement, then it wont cost you anything. The holding of the cards is a little awkward, but you get the hang of it, with some practice. It took me 30 min to make the gimmick, but now i can maje it in under 15 min. I strongly reccomend this dvd, but i would just go to theory 11 and buy the instant download, that way, you get it sooner, and no shipping and handling. Money well spent!!!!

Dont Listen to the haters Report this review
Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on June 11th, 2013
I recently bought this and then I started reading some of the negative reviews on penguin and just had to leave my own review.

First off, dont listen to the haters, this is a fantastic effect! Most people have been complaining that it's too hard, which it's not, it will of course take some practice, as every magic effect. Another thing people seem to hate about this trick is the fact that you have to make your own gimmick. I dont know why people hate that, I LOVE IT! Creating your own gimmicks is so much easier and more practical that way I barely have to spend money and wait for shipping and handling and blah blah blah. Besides if you've been in magic for at least a bit, you've probably got most of the things you need to great the gimmicks, if not, it's cheap to get them.

Now with that said, there are some things that you need to bring to your attention, yes this trick is a bit angle sensitive, it's more of 1 on 1 or small group kind of effect, which is fine. Edward is a great teacher and he teaches you a few different effects you can do with this gimmick.
Oh by the way, I dont know why people are saying this but people on here have been saying that you cant hand the deck of cards for examination after the trick, YES YOU CAN! I dont know why people are saying that, the gimmick is NOT the deck so the deck CAN be examined after the trick.
So as long as a little bit of arts and crafts and a little bit of practice is alright with you, then I RECOMMEND THIS DVD!!

Lot's of negative reviews on this, but I think it's great! Report this review

I purchased rapture about a year ago. Initially I watched the video and then left it on my shelf. I finally cracked it open again a few days ago, and I must say I love this effect. It is highly visual, catches the spectators off guard and is a great way to open a card set.

I had to play with the handling of this effect a little until I found a way that I feel comfortable with it, but that is as it should be for any effect.

I have read several reviews that complain that a large portion of the DVD is teaching how to make the gimmick rather than including one. In my opinion, I prefer it this way because the gimmick was easy to make and now when mine wears out I can just make another one rather than having to cough up more money on this effect.

Hope this helps,

Virgil
