After long days of negotiation with Mickael, we finally managed to talk him into letting go of a few of his pet creations -- effects that have made him among the best known French creators of magic in the world. Mickael will be offering a new collection of tricks, curiosities, and illusions throughout 2012!

The first effect, or rather illusion, is called HOLE. Since putting it online a few days ago, HOLE has been the subject of much discussion in magic forums and clubs. After many inquiries into the availability of the trick in magic stores, we have decided to release it.

Let's take a look at the effect in detail:

The spectator examines a red card that has an approximately 1" hole through its center. Aside from the hole, the card is perfectly ordinary. Take out a few self-stick labels and invite the spectator to choose and SIGN one of them.

Take the top card of the deck and place the red card with the hole on top of it. Using the label, hinge the two cards together at the bottom edge. Invite a spectator to verify that your "construction" is solid by pulling on it.

Now you explain to your spectator that nothing can pass through the joined cards without tearing the label. The proof: invite your spectator to take a card from the deck, sign it, and place it between your two attached cards. His card is still visible through the hole in the red card but as the spectator will note, the label prevents all passage.

Offer to realize the impossible -- to cause the passage of his card through the label without damaging it. An undisputed impossibility! The passing of solid through solid!

Slowly place the spectator's card between your two cards. Show both sides, leaving no doubt that the spectator's card is trapped and yet... Slowly the spectator's card passes through the label as if it weren't there. And yet, you show right away that your "construction" is as solid as it was at the beginning!

A truly curious experiment made all the more so as your spectator can examine the cards and the label! An unsolvable mystery!

Remember:

HOLE is really MAGIC and the principle is really different.
The spectator can hold the cards together without being any the wiser.
The illusion is more than convincing and the spectator can feel the card slowing pass through the label himself.

The gimmick is delivered with an explanatory DVD that will reveal the secret of this incredible experiment.
You will also learn a version that you can make at home in less than 5 minutes!

First off, the gimmick is extremely well-made and is quite devious. Visually, this effect is stunning! It will floor your spectators! When you hand out the card that just passed through, you have plenty of time to make a switch so that everything can be examined. I will work this into my repertoire for sure!

A close-up trick that can't be done close up Report this review

Like most people, this demo absolutely baffled me. I could hardly wait till this baby arrived at my doorstep. When I opened the package, however, I was instantly frustrated. This trick CAN'T be done close-up. And the worst part is that I have seen similar gimmicks and they are much, much less obvious. For $40 this is a rip-off. The harsh lighting of the demo video was an intentional deception to the magic community. Not impressed.

Excellent and well made Report this review

This effect was not available for a while out of stock. During that time, I was racking my brain for a method to do this effect. I finally came up with a method to make it work. However, when it came available, I decided to buy it just to see if he used my same method. Frankly, I would have been dissapointed because my method was a bit clumsy. This method is fantastic! Absolutely brilliant! It looks so real it is amazing! One of the cards can't be handed out for examination, but here's a simple workaround: Simply place a duplicate of that card in your pocket, place the gimmick card in your pocket and pull the duplicate out if you want to show it.

Great but limited Report this review

Ok, before I've got this, I already had some theories. When finally got my hands on this, I was happy because I did guess it correctly.

Anyway, the gimmick is actually well made. Neat and professionally crafted. Now, same with other buyers, this is supposed to be a close up effect but it has a very limited circumstance for performing this close up.

While the gimmick is pretty hidden, it can be spotted pretty straight forward if you are not carefully if your angle or the movement of your hands.

To cover the existence of this gimmick, you have to: 1) Keep your hand moves doing gestures and delivering patter; 2) control it using appropriate lighting. Having those two covered, you're good to go and will stay invisible.

Anyway, the method is very good, it's thinking-out-of-the-box kinda idea. But its limitation will prevent people to perform this confidently for a close up. It might be good for a webcam trick. It is also silent, meaning it creates no noise during the performance.

So, if you are here for a great method, get this. I'm sure you can perform this well with proper handle and circumstances.

Oh, reset is quite easy. Once you peel off the sticker and stick it onto their card, you're pretty much reset. Of course it is never recommended to repeat the same trick to the same spectator or group.

Can't preform this closer than 6 feet away Report this review

Highly bummed with this gimmick. I knew what it was from his online lecture. But you can see the 4 parts of the gimmick a mile away. Even with low lighting there's no way this can be done close up. And this is not a parlor magic trick. Waste of $30

Awesome Illusion Report this review

Ok, so this isn't a review yet, as it's in my Cart to purchase. Just wanted to ask if anyone is using this in a restaurant table hopping setting, or 'can' it be used in that manner. Chris from Penguin says not really. Others have said the one they received from Penguin is NOT as well made as the one Mickael uses in his trailer or with Dan. I really like how this 'looks', but if it really isn't possible to do table hopping, as it comes (without tweaking) I may keep searching. Any Tips or Ideas guys/gals. Thanks

When i looked at he gimmick i was very confused then i watched the dvd and it explained everything in maybe 5 minutes there are no words on the dvd. The gimmick is well made and will last a long time. It comes with a small supply of stickers but more are easily available at staples. I rate this 5/5

People on you tube think they know how this is done by making it themselves with 3 cards but they dont understand this method is only 2 cards and its very clever. Only problem is cannot get too close to people because they will notice the gimmick. I wish the gimmick was a little flatter would help where you did not have to turn the 2 cards so quickly. again a few feet away and you are safe. no one will ever figure this trick out.
