The Effect You display two small plastic canisters, each with a red cap, and a single die. You turn toward a spectator and ask, �What if I could read your mind?� You place the die in your spectator�s hand and close her fingers around it. You continue, �Choose any number on the die and place it into the canister with your number facing up. Whatever you do, don�t let me see it�. Keeping your eyes closed, you turn your head to the side while your spectator places the die in the canister. Without looking, you immediately place a cap on the canister. You place the small canister inside the large canister to ensure the die is completely concealed. You look deep into your spectator�s eyes, and ask her to focus on her number� You smile. You�ve got it. Without hesitation you tell the spectator the number she has chosen.

Now this is an interesting thing, because for the most part this is a novice effect you can find in kids magic kits and such. But I've actually watched a pro magician working a crowd with this! An adult crowd, and really getting reactions. Just goes to show how important presentation and performance is. This can be a very entertaining effect, but you've got to be willing to put the time and effort into presenting it well.

First trick I ever owned

This was the very first trick I ever owned. My dad brought it home to me after a business trip when I was 6. I remember fooling the socks off of all his friends. It seems impossible that you could know the number on the die, but you do every time without fail. This is simple, straight-forward and best of all, easy to perform, allowing you to concentrate on performance. Good stuff. You won't be disappointed.
Make no mistake... this IS just a kid's trick. It's the sort of trick that's in most of those multi-trick magic sets, so a lot of people will already be very familiar with this anyway.
This is a cute trick if you want to convince your kid that you have super-powers... but if you're an adult thinking you might actually want to use this on other adults, please, don't.

This effect is something I am sure many you have seen at a younger age. Because of this, it is QUITE easy to think that this effect is bad, or childish. DO NOT think that.
This is a powerful effect, and in my experience gets JUST as much of a reaction (if not more) than my other, more complex mentalism routines. Predicting a number on a dice that is inside two OPAQUE cases is a feat of impossibility.
Pick this up if you don't have it; if nothing else allow it to be a lesson of that things become classics for a reason. If it wasn't good and didn't get great reactions, it wouldn't be a classic.

If you are a pocket trick kind of magician this is a great one to have. It is so small but so powerful. Everything in this trick is examinable before and after the trick is done. Everything is so natural when it comes to the handling. If you use the dialogue shown in the video to match the routine, no one will ever figure it out. Something so cheap shouldn't be passed up. Grab this on your next order and you won't be disappointed.
