I like Daryl's superb performance style. He is entertaining and funny. Each dvd begins with a performance of all of the material in a routined show, followed by the explanations. All of the material is designed to be impromptu and relatively easy to do. Some card effects are self working. this doesn't mean you don't need to practice. Put the time and effort in and you will be rewarded. Each DVD provides you with a variety of magic, many of which are tried and true classics. You will have a lot to practice with this set.
These DVDs have a lot of fun, quirky and original tricks on them. Most of these are a mixture between magic and jokes with the emphasis on fun, so don't expect to find any 'dark' tricks on here but do expect a lot of fun and Dary's excellent tuition!

Good Variety

These DVDs have a good variety of close up effects, for those who don't want to go too heavy on the cards. Several nice rope routines, too. I picked up a lot of ideas from these DVDs. The first part of each DVD is a short performance in front of a live audience, the second part is the explanations. From watching the actual performance, you can learn a lot about presentation. The explanations are very clear. Most effects are not that difficult to learn.
This was an excellent starter on my road to learning magic! It is probably the single best investment in magic (other than my time and effort) that I have made. Each dvd shows you the routines as a thirty minute show, then Daryl shows you exactly how to perform each effect. In my opinion Daryl is one of the best teachers in magic, and this series of dvd's is very worth the money!

I would recommend this to anyone who is a beginner to intermediate. Each DVD has about 30 minutes of routines which you could also use for your own routines. In addition, there are a variety of effects which to chose from, classical card effects, coins, rope, sponges and dice among others.
Not everything here is impromptu, nor can you make everything yourself, although you can make most of it. And if you go to Daryl's web page, you can get most of the props if you don't want to get them yourself.
The effects are not difficult to master, and I have gotten many new ideas to add to the routines I already do.
