This trick is amazing. Not only can you literally and seemingly destroy someones bill and restore, the pen is examinable! which is my favorite part. When I'm doing tricks with my invisible and svengali decks people always ask to see the deck, then I'm stuck in an awkward situation...NOT WITH THIS! With this they can check everything out! Make sure you get the DVD with Oz Pearlman though. The Pearlman disc is great. If you really want INSANE reactions you have to learn the "Pen through dollar through," one of Oz's signature tricks. I bought this years ago and recently bought a new one. The reactions are awesome. I get people that still talk about how its their favorite thing I do. Stopped performing it for a while after seeing a cart in the mall selling a similar effect. My ideology was that it was going to be too well known to perform . I could not have been more wrong. A half year later I added it to my repertoire again. I've been doing it ever since and it still owns.
For those of you looking for a powerful punch with minimal practice involved before hand this trick is it. You do need to practice to ensure the correct handling and set up however it is fairly easy and if you have any dexterity in your hands what-so-ever you can do this. The trick came with two well made gimmicked pens and a very detailed high quality dvd with Oz Pearlman covering all the necessary handlings and in and outs and "what if's" so you are completely covered. This trick has a powerful impact on the spectators and should be considered by the beginner as well as the professional.

I didn't realize how good this trick is until I got it for free on a promo but I sure to order another to have on hand as well as to get the DVD. The instructions are very good. The pen looks indistinguishable from a cheap ball point pen and can be handed out for examination. Pulling the pen out of a stuck bill and restoring the hold is mind boggling.

I'm not a big fan of most Pen-Thru effects. All of them lead to a high amount of heat being directed to the pen during your effect, and your audience's attention drifts a bit because of it. Also, many require switches and or gimmicks that leave you only partially clean. The same is true for this effect.
I do like the versatility of this particular pen-thru, which is a bit more versatile than some others. You will need to practice to get natural with this pen, it's sleights are not one that is all that natural to begin with. This is a good effect, and it's not something I would explicitly tell people not to get. But I do warn you that people will focus all their attention on your pen, and that lowers the reaction levels in my opinion.
I personally feel that Misled is a far better version of a pen-thru effect and eliminates many of the problems that other pen-thrus all deal with. If you really like this effect, by all means buy it, but if you want what I consider to be the best and cleanest pen-thru effect out there, go for Misled. It really is leaps and bounds better.
