EXPANDED SHELL SET - US HALF DOLLAR by Roy Kueppers (US HALF DOLLAR)

Close-up expanded shell set coins half dollar

Price: $45.00
Out of stock.

Expanded Shell Sets use an expanded shell along with ungaffed inner coins which are hand-picked for an exact size-match as well as for overall appearance matching. With expanded shells, it is possible (with some searching) to find other ungaffed, matching fits. An expanded shell might also fit your other normal-sized gaffs, like your flipper coin.

These shells are manufactured by Roy Kueppers. I personally manufacture each item that I sell and I use my very own unique method for Expanding shells. I also very carefully select specific characteristics in the coins I choose to make the shells. Not all coins are created equal so I feel that a combination of the right chosen coin and my unique process make for a high quality Expanded shell with 90% coverage when nested.

Many effects are possible with the use of this shell.

Routine and instructions included.

Perfect for Derek Diingle’ Silver Quick Report this review

I have been using English Pennies for 40 years and I decided to expand to include US coins for Derek Dingle’s Silver Quick. Half dollars are almost rare to use borrowed coins. This set is perfect.

What you get:
You get four coins and an ES together with a weblink to learn easy beginner routines like shell coins through table.
The Coins:
My coins are from 1972 and look really good. One of the four has some very very small and very few scratches, but it doesn't bother me at all and no audience would ever notice. They are somewhat soft, but not as soft as I would have hoped. When you want to produce one coin by pushing it off a stack, that you have fingerpalmed, for example, you have to be really careful. It is definitely doable tho.
The Shell:
The shell looks incredibly similar to the coins. When you lay them side by side, you really can't tell which one's which. The shell hides the coin almost completely. When the shell is mouth up, you could see it, if you knew, what you have to looking for, but lay people would probably never notice anything.
Teaching:
To be honest, I didn't watch much of the instructional video, because I have some downloads on this subject. For those who don't , they will probably appreciate this video very much. In it Luiz Castro teaches you basic unnesting moves, a coins through table and a matrix routine to get you started with gimmicked coin work. As far as I can tell it is well taught and easy to follow.

This is my first ES-set so I can't compare it to any other on the market, however I am really happy with what I got. If you are looking for a great and affordable shell coin set, you came to the right place.

This shell and the coins are all of matching dates. The coins have nice grip for classic palm.

The shell itself is very well made. Way better than tango shell without a doubt.

If these are in stock get them.

This is my first shell set so I really have nothing to compare it to, though I have read a great deal about shells and about other people’s experiences with different manufacturers. That said, to my eyes the shell looks really good and the matching coins really do match the date and look of the shell and seem to fit well.

Be advised, however, that the shell will NOT fit Roy’s “Roth” coin boxes. To be fair to Roy, he never claims that they will. But I was under the impression that they might due to their association with David Roth and the fact that David Roth has said in a number of places that his boxes will take an expanded shell. It’s my understanding that the boxes he was referring to were made by a different manufacturer at the time so that may explain the discrepancy.

Other than that, I’d say that if you want an inexpensive but expertly-made shell set and you don’t mind using clad coins, then this is a good one to get. Especially if you’re just getting into shells like I am. Highly recommended.
