Break a thread into pieces and slowly, visually restore it.

You reveal a length of thread and give to the spectator to examine. You break it into multiple pieces. The pieces are shown separate, one-by-one, then rolled into a ball. Slowly, you pull the ends of the string to reveal that it has been fully, impossibly restored. The spectator can examine everything - and keep the restored thread as a souvenir.

The Gypsy Thread dates back to 1584. The plot was mentioned in The Discoverie of Witchcraft, one of the first books on magic ever published. In the past, the effect was somewhat cumbersome and required a significant amount of setup. ABERDEEN annihilates all of that.

The spectator can examine the string before and after the effect.

First, let me say that I do love "workers". Second, I also do love ingenious new methods that aren't too complicated to use. Third, I am a working semi-pro magician who wants to put 80% of my effort into presenting a trick. And now, this little gem covers all three of the above statements! A modern take on the classic "Gypsy Thread" plot. That is easy to do (well, first some practice of course) anytime, anywhere. Fits both close-up, parlor- and stage work. Packs small but plays huge! Give it a try if you like thread work - you won't regret it. Good job Mr. Dickson!

I think this works best for close up because the length of the thread. It brings a lot of thread but is a lot harder to do it longer than a feet anf a half. Its a close up worker, and brings enough for hundreds of performances.

Know why I only gave it 4 stars? Because if I gave it 5 I know folks like me wouldn’t believe it. Bottom line this is the best and cleanest version I have ever seen or used. I preform it now and don’t use any patter...audience applause at end without any prompting. It may be that I relax and smile genuinely pleased as I pull apart the restored thread. It definitely takes practice but it isn’t knacky or odd the moves are small but natural. Best of you can set up as many performances as you want and then just perform with zero fuss just pick up the thread and go. Easy to store self contained. Man I just can’t say enough here, I never review but geeze Louis the price was so low compared to so many other effects I have yet it gets some such a pure reaction. The execution reminds me of Henning back in the day, simple and elegant.
