I have always been fascinated by escapology. However, because of the props required (straight jackets, handcuffs) I have never really attempted any of it. I think that is why i like this dvd the most out of the series. The 100 foot rope tie is especially good. But I also get a kick out of the escape from a rubber band. The second DVD was interesting though the only thing I have had a chance to try at this point is a handcuff escape. The 3rd dvd is interesting if for no other reason than knowledge If you were only going to buy 1 dvd out of the series, then DVD 1 should be it for its practicality. However you really should own them all.

ok so i got this at my magic shop, mostly out of curiosity instead of actual practicality. and i must say i was impressed. the explanations are thurough, the effects are convincing, and the methods are classic! i think that perhaps one dvd is not worth the price. if you are into this at all then get the three disc set plus a bonus disck dedicated to the escape work of houdini! great stuff!

WOW! is all i can say. I got this from a penguin promotion... so i am even more impressed! Dixie covers so many escapes that you can easily put together a whole escape act. I just wish giant milk cans were readily available at my hardware store... However, i love doing a comical escape with a pair of Houdini Handcuffs.

I'm not a huge escapolgy fan but by the time I was halfway through the first disc, I had certainly become one. Dixie is so passionate about this art and he teaches every effect with enthusiasm and thoroughness. It's just a pleasure to watch him perform and then pass on the secrets.
The bonus Houdini footage is certainly worth watching, it's great to see the master escapologist do what he does best!

These DVDs take you through the wonderful world of escaping. Everything from the simple rope escape, to the large stage effect of escaping from a trunk. Each video is well produced with easy to understand instructions. You are even given instructions to build your own trunk if you so choose.
I have performed several of these tricks now out on the street and at parties and I always leave them wanting more. It is a must have for any magician looking to expand their show
and share your thoughts with other magicians!
