Practice. The main, and most important ingredient to any magic trick. Even a simple thumb tip requires practice, scripting, and thought, for it to be ever considered "A miracle".

Can this be performed immediately, yes (agreed, that you do need to purchase 2 rubix cubes, but that is minor considering the degree in engineering one needs to construct some of the other gimmicks sold).

That being addressed, with minimal (hours, not minutes) practice, you CAN achieve an astonishing miracle. don't be fooled by the lazy other reviewers. If you punt in the effort, it will reap the rewards. I have spoken with the creators, practiced the routine, and delivered nothing sort of the impossible. You will as well...

...unless you are lazy and impatient.

As advertised...

1. No Skill Required: Balderdash. It's like when someone says "Honestly..." Think just the opposite. A tremendous amount of practice is required to perfect and execute this trick effectively.

2. Perform The Best Rubik's Cube Miracles In No Time: And no time means what exactly??? Total grey area. It will take a great deal of time to perform this effect if you're new to magic or an amateur.

Bottom line: Full disclosure should be "Advanced understanding of both Rubik's Cube and sleight of hand are required". IMHO over hyped -- especially for the money.

Great effect, average video Report this review

As with other reviewers, things to note are:
1. You receive a very well-made high quality gimmick which you can customize to suit your performance preferences
2. You need to supply your own cubes; most people interested in this item will probably have one or two lying around anyway. Spoedcubes may offer some advantages but are not absolutely necessary.
3. The effect is not angle proof, and if performing for experienced fibers, there are some discrepancies they may notice.

The thinking behind the effect is brilliant, and if performed well it is very impressive.

But this is not a take out of the box and instantly dazzle your granny kind of trick. You will need to invest some serious time to do it well.

The teaching video is fair. Some items are out of sequence, some trivialities belaboured and important points glossed over. These guys are funny, but the video is no Jay Sankey comedy masterpiece.

Fortunately in the penguin magic discussion, a user (voltesgx31) has posted a tabulated table of contents with times for items in the video. A big shout out to you!!

Pricey effect, but quality concept and gimmick and with the proper care and attention, probably worth it.

I saw Greg Wilson perform "Rubicon" at a convention recently and I was baffled, giddy and excited. But then heartbroken by the high price. I have never been able to solve a Rubik's cube and rarely even played with them but my genius daughter not only solves them, but learned the algorithms and can apply them to all other forms of turning puzzles. So I wanted to buy this trick to basically WOW her with something clearly magical since she knows I can't actually solve them. Along came Dumas and Lam with their version of virtually the same effect at 1/3rd the price and it's WORTH EVERY PENNY. I ordered the two other regular cubes you need to perform this effect so I have not yet actually practiced much less performed, but the technique is clearly explained and familiar in the sense that misdirection is key. Technically it's 6 mini reveals (since against all possible odds you manage to get the spectators genuinely mixed up cube to match your mixed up cube) followed by the enormous whammy closer of SOLVING your mixed up cube...with ONE HAND if you choose. Again, you do NOT need to know how to actually solve a cube; Dumas teaches an incredible technique that is actually like a mechanical illusion that allows for a dingbat like me to "solve" a regular "mixed-up" puzzle. GET this trick if cubes and puzzles are your thing. It's beautiful, interactive and extremely clever.

Yes they don’t give you cubes, I have found ones that work for a total of 15 bucks for both. Yes there is a learning curve and I am still learning it, but if you put in the time necessary to learn it, you have a winner on you hands. Worth it IMO.

Great Trick, maddening learning curve Report this review

What kind of review do you give a restaurant with great food but substandard service? Well, I give it three out of five stars.

The food — the trick itself — is just great! Watch the video, and unless you're wise to the ways of Rubik's Cube effects, this will fool you. The trick itself is fully worthy of five stars.

BUT

Maybe I'm showing my age here, but I much prefer terse, well-written directions to the rambling videos that have become the norm in the magic market these days. The video is nearly two hours long, and, mercifully, is indexed, making each chapter of the explanation more accessible than is the norm. HOWEVER, neither JB nor Michael is a native English speaker, and though they manage a thorough explanation, there is a LOT of wasted time with banter and extraneous asides. More maddeningly, neither JB or Michael is a gifted pedagogue. Simple, repetitive moves are slowed to an unnecessary crawl, while critical transitions are glossed over and often not even acknowledged. (See the explanation of Fugii Akira's one hand stack to see what I mean.)
In addition, this trick is ANYTHING but ready-to-go out of the box. You'll need to buy two additional Rubik's Cubes (I recommend speed cubes for reasons I won't go into here) and spend HOURS in front of the video before setting up the gimmick. At no time in the video do the presenters clearly take you through the setup — you are left to to infer much of the process, leading to unnecessary potential errors.
For your money, you are getting a great trick, not a bunch of apparatus. You get the gimmick, something called tako, a bunch of stickers, and a bag large enough to contain two three inch cubes. This brings up another beef — nowhere are you given instructions on how or where to obtain appropriate replacements for either the stickers or the tako, if necessary.
Bottom line: I love the trick, but HATE the time I was forced to waste learning the basics and setting it up. Maybe the learning is part of a rite of passage that will ensure that not many end up learning and performing this gem. Now that I've made the effort, I guess I hope that's the case.

few bad things Report this review

In general it's ok. But we are talking about 100$ product, so
1) no real cube - you can decide that it's not a problem, but it is. Why?
Because 2) colors doesn't match. I already have Rubik's Cube. A right one, good quality for speedcubing. But the blue color stickers much darker than on my cube, the green stickers also. So every spectator would clearly see that cubes change color sometimes. So you will buy stickers anyway.
3) Instructions on youtube. Seriously? Anyway my link doesn't work.
4) Too much time to watch the video. I wanted only basic routine, but had to watch everything just to complete all moves.
All the way: too much to buy, too much to watch, too much to pay.

Perfect square is a really nice gimmick that is actually fairly cheap to other gimmicks if the same type. The routine is really impressive and is easy to do with practice. This thrice is a lot easier if you already have experience with other Rubik’s Cube Magic like Cube3 but perfect square can still be accomplished by a beginner. This is good buy if you’re interested in Rubik’s Cube Magic.

If your looking for a trick that looks incredible and can be done perfectly right away, don’t bother. But if your willing to put the time in, you have a effect that will absolutely blow them away. Like any other trick out there, you only get out what you put in. In my opinion this is not for beginners.
Do yourself a favor and first learn how to solve a cube, then learn how to solve it with one hand ( any one that understands cube magic will understand this statement ), if not pick up “Cube FX”.
As far as the training on this trick, they only teach you 2 effects, and out of the 2 the Cupid’s cube is by far the best. The 2 cubes that are included are garbage and not speed cubes. The stickers that are included don’t match any other cube I can find, however this really doesn’t matter that much as I never used them in the second cube, only on the gimmick.
So if your willing to put the time in (as I did, which took approximately 1 month) you will have a effect that could be used as a closer, it’s that strong.

Pretty good, but.... Report this review

It is in fact pretty good, good quality gimmick and overall a cleaver method but.... you are still in a better ground if you first learn about solving the cube on your own. If you want to "instant solve" the cube, you need the muscle memory to move around the cube precisely with only one hand already or it's not going to work. Rubik magic is awesome, but if you want to use the "decent" methods/gimmicks in the market you have to be aware that it's going to take a lot of practice before you get it right. It's like doing the ambitious card, you won't be abble to pull it off 2 hours after learning the double lift, it takes practice, sometimes a lot.
