The Effect
Warning: Don't buy this DVD. Almost no one can actually do the stuff you're about to see. It's aggressive, showy, complex, impossibly fast, and freakish. Once you master it, your spectators may notice only one tenth of what they're supposed to see... and only one one-hundredth of what is actually happening. That's no way to live... pick up a svengali deck and be happy.
This is an instructional card magic DVD featuring routines that have won Brian Tudor International recognition as one of the leading card manipulators in the world. There are no camera tricks and everything is shown at actual speed.
Prepare yourself. You're going to have to watch each explanation hundreds of times before you start to get it. You'll have to practice even more before it looks good in your hands. In the process you'll drop tens of thousands of cards. Throughout your training you'll destroy five or more decks per day.
When Tudor performs, he just kinda does it. Like an Olympic athlete, he's performing a routine that's been practiced thousands of times leading up to this moment. When he's on stage his mind goes to a place where individual moves become instinctual... he doesn't have to remember to do a Riffle Pass one moment and a Throw Change the next, any more than he has to remember to breathe or flex his heart muscle sixty times a minute. Sports psychologists have a word for this place--they call it THE ZONE.
If a stranger walked up to us and asked if we'd recommend this DVD, we'd say no. We'd say he'd probably hate it. We'd guess that he's probably nowhere near skilled enough with cards, or devoted, or focused enough even to appreciate it. You have to earn this DVD. It's not for everyone. It's probably not for him, and it's probably not for you.
But if you are one of the few who MUST be at the cutting edge in the development of visual card magic, there is nothing we can say to keep you away from this DVD. And that being said, this is probably your best resource for what's new with cards.

Best Card DVD out there |
|
by Eric L from NYC on 01/03/2010 18:14:04

Let me preface by saying that Generation Extreme is probably the best thing I have bought from penguinmagic to date. When I bought it, I had just finished learning from BTP card magic, and now I feel that my card handling skills are much better off because of it. Within the weekend I got the DVD I mastered The Man From New York, which is one of my favorite card openers. It hits HARD, is easy to do, and easy to master. If you come away mastering one routine, you will wow spectators, but it gives you six great ones. Anyone who says Brian Tudor is a bad teacher is not willing to put the time and effort needed into learning some of the best material out there.

this video isnt bad if u r into xcm or just want to spice up your magic.its not as hard(not all of it)as u might think.some of the stuff i do not want to learn.its super hard so i didnt get hung up on it.i stilled walked away with alot.if u have small hands or havent been doing magic or xcm for a while u might be frustrated with this.he gets a little cocky on the dvd and his teaching style is by far the worst ive seen.he uhhh..talks like..uh..this in this monotone voice the entire time.there are good teachers with personality that you can learn quickly from and then there's...mute this, play your own music and just hit slo-mo and copy him.

great stuff! |

i've only had the dvd for a few days but i thought i should share my thoughts in a review to stick up for it.
ok i'm new to XCM and i will admit this stuff is difficult...but thats exactly why i bought it. i wanted something like this that will keep me busy practicing for a while. its sooooo awesome when you master one of these sleights (especially when you think they're impossible before).
people complain that Brian Tudor is a bad teacher. i wouldnt say he's a bad teacher it's just that teaching isn't his thing. i mean, come on, he spends so much time on his routines that its probably really hard to explain them since they're its all muscle memory to him. he does have a bit of a bland voice though.
but hey, this is good stuff, just give it a chance!
4 stars because of the teaching and price (even though i got this in the 5 for deal :D i probably wouldnt pay regular price for it).

If you're willing to spend bucks just because of who the instructor is and how fast he is, spend the on Showoff and...PRACTICE!!
This was a disappointing buy and I am still kicking myself.

This is NOT a clever sales pitch using reverse psychology!
DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE!

This DVD is one of the best DVD's I own. Penguin is wrong about difficulty! The moves aren't extremely difficult, they just take a lot of practice. Filled with ridiculously amazing routines! Definitely worth every cent!
