Reparation by John Lovick (DVD) - This is the ULTIMATE Torn and Restored Card! A spectator signs a card, you rip it into fourths, and then restore it PIECE BY PIECE. Magic doesn't get more visual than this!
FINALLY HERE! In this long awaited DVD release, John Lovick (Handsome Jack) covers every detail: the handling, motivation, timing, subtlety and psychology. Nothing is left out!
Thorough explanations and over-the-shoulder camera angles ensure you'll master this routine in no time.
PLUS, as a special bonus, you'll see how good this routine really is under real world conditions - John performs the Reparation at the Magic Castle in front of a live audience.
This captivating creation has become the highlight of John's act. The routine will take some practice to master, BUT it's the easiest PIECE BY PIECE restoration of it's kind.
"I've learned the "others" and they're very good, but they make my fingers tremble and ache. The Reparation much much easier and 'do-able.' In a nutshell, this is one that will become part of your working repertoire."

This is an excellent DVD on the torn and restored card effect. John does a very good job teaching the effect in the video. The effect is a lot of fun to perform and you will get a great reaction from the effect if performed properly. Put some time in and it will pay off huge.

Reparation

I want to start out by saying that this trick does require a lot of practice, and I mean a lot. Once you've got it down though, you've got one of those rare pieces of magic that will last in a spectators mind for a long time. When they see their signed cards ripped up and then restored, it's just incomprehensible. If you are thinking about getting a torn and restored routine, think about getting this one.

Good T&R!

For a bit of backround, I am no stranger to this effect. About 4 years ago, I picked up David Regal's book "Close-Up and Personal". If you are not familiar, that book contained this effect as a guest donation by John Lovick.
There comes the problem though. I TRIED, TRIED and TRIED more to learn that routine from the book, destroyed over 6 decks with still no luck.
When they came out with the video, I HAD to have it.
Let me just say that I was not disappointed with it! This video has some good live performances that allow you to get a feel for the effect and then it goes into a humerous, yet detailed explanation section. After watching this once, I was able to perform this. THAT is the power of this DVD.

Idk why they raised the price
by Mark Tirone from New Jersey on 04/04/2010 01:06:27
I'm a huge John Lovick fan. This DVD made me loose a little respect for him. THe effect looks great, and John is a great performer AND teacher, but this lacked momentum. Maybe it was because it was only about 30 minutes long. Maybe it was the quality. You can tell that this was obviously just the original VHS tape converted to DVD with some flashy editing in the beginning. Plus, this didn't solve many problems for real workers in the industry. He has a good teaching style, but this really lacked something to be desired. And the effect really doesn't look much different than some others on the market. I would suggest getting Torn over this if you must.

Complicated but worth it

This is one of my favorite torn/restored card effects ,and it is especially powerful for stage and parlor magic. the peice by peice restoration is beautiful without too much slight of hand. the only draw back is the complexixty of the routine in the sense of memorizing all the steps, but once you get it the trick will flow nicely
