Are you able to use the default calculator app on Android for Non-Toxic by Geraint Clarke?

I saw a review of this which said that while they liked it, you could not use the default calculator app on Android. If so, that is a pretty big problem since asking someone to download an app in order to perform any trick really isn't practical.

The effect does not work with the default calculator on the Android but he explains exactly how to perform the effect using the Android phone and iPhone.
