Since you didn't specify a trick, I'll leave a variable answer.
For rubber band tricks in general...no, not really.
The main reason that you wear the bands is to have a quick, easily accessible place to get the bands when performing tricks that end as souvenir giveaways.
However, there are tricks e.g.RADD, where the bands on your arm provide 'cover' for the trick.
