Does 'EVP' require the performer to have a smart phone?

In 'EVP by Alan Rorrison' it says "Requires a smart phone to perform". Does this mean the smart phone you 'borrow' to make the recording? or do you need one of your own to perform the trick as well?

This can be done with the spectator's smart phone.
Note: this isn't limited to smartphones. You could use other devices also (tablets, mp3 player, Ipad)
Anything that uses a record app.
