Is there any reason this has to be performed with a 16 oz cup?

Is there any reason this has to be performed with a 16 oz cup? I'd like to do it in the breakroom with the cups they have there which are the regular 8 oz. I assume it is the same thing just everything will be half the size (half the ice, half the snow, gimmick will last twice as long). Am I correct?

I can't see any reason why Water and Ice wouldn't work in a smaller cup if you altered the handling a bit. :)
