Melting point! Am I getting a gimmick or a method?

With Cesar Alfonso's Melting Point I wanted to know if you are getting just a method to learn for the "coin through glass" or does it come with a required gimmick. Most Penguin effects say DVD plus gimmick etc, I know I need a ring, a regular one I have been told (I would love to use my "Banded" ring). They say you can use candy or other objects with the technique. Again, just wandering if it is pure sleight of hand or am I getting a gimmick that is necessary for the effect(s).
