A cheat card or crib sheet is helpful, but the stack is most powerful when it is memorized. That way there are no visible means of help for the magician to use. You don't have to worry about glimpses, peeks, or having your cheat card be discovered. If you have it memorized if a spectator names either a card or number, you immediately know its location and value in the deck. Memory is much faster when you are in the trenches.
