ODD

Does it use roughing on the backs?

Although I saw somewhere that there was an invisible deck reference (maybe that email from Acar...), this effect is completely different.
And, as @scialli mentions, there is no roughing fluid/spray/ wax used anywhere with this effect.
Although you did not ask...this is very easy to learn/perform.

@scialli - does the ad say "...supply only one deck...?" in the context that you're suggesting???
Huh?
If so, 'good catch'!
Yes, everyone, you will need two decks to make the 'one deck'.
Don't worry, you don't destroy anything and everything can be put back to normal if you tire of this effect.

@JustStuff, the ad says "Only one deck is used" which, I suppose from the replicant's POV seems true and makes the point that no deck switch is needed. However your comment is a good warning to young folks raiding the family's card drawer who find out that they may have to go out and buy two decks, the faces of which match and the backs of which contrast.

Rough luck, but no. As the ad sez "Use your own cards." There's nothing supplied except a dvd if you want. You supply the "only one deck." Perhaps a half truth, hmm?

Curiosity got the best of me and I downloaded ODD so I could answer my own questions. First the comparison to the Invisible Deck are incorrect. With the ID, a very powerful effect for lay audiences, the card back does not change color merely turns face up. ODD is similar to the Brainwave Deck where the selected card turns face up AND changes back color. The most common method for these special decks uses roughing spray hence my question. As already stated ODD uses a different method. And it is worth a try if you prefer no sleight of hand.
