Paul Gertner asked that I quote him directly in response to this question.
"Technically the answer is NO. You cannot hand out the Kicker Deck immediately after the third phrase appears. I say "technically" because if you watched my appearance on Penn & Teller Fool Us that is what you saw me do. However I had the advantage of "Time Misdirection on the show and I anticipated the possible request to examine the deck. "
"Remember I've been doing this trick for 40+ years and Penn & Teller were not the first audience members to ask to inspect the deck... I'm always ready for that request. It only happens once a year at the most... but I'm ready. On the DVD I explain the preparation just in case someone asks to see the cards…. but it does involve time misdirection, pocket management and acting to pull it off."
"Cleanly handing over the deck immediately after the final change is not possible. (However my son recently suggested a method for that which involves using the Kicker for the 2nd change and then doing the third change with only the deck... but that involves more handling and bringing the Kicker in AND out cleanly and you still have the issue of the standard Unshuffled Deck revealing part of the secret. Remember with the Classic Version of Unshuffled handing out the deck is also impossible (unless the deck is switched on the off beat at the finish)... something I am ready to do when the situation calls for it."
