I normally regard penguin as a good source for magic but this technique has been done by another
mentalist in the uk who publish the move, His name is looch and the book is called S.A.D. (simple
and direct) in the routine called Double D.
looch also brought out a download called
Retina which is also available on this site. which the move is explained on there too.
I
am only giving this review a 1 star because julien does go into the move a little more.
Hi ! I'm Julien, creator of [S]Witch.
I own both S.A.D and Retina from Looch, and I'm sorry you didn't see the differences between the cover switch and my switch.
According to me, my switch is done more openly (when transferring the billet your hand doesn't hide behind the other to... well, do the job. ;) ) and you immediately open the hand flat showing it...
If your view on it is that both switches are the same because "one billet goes inside the other and both are held like one", the credit goes to a bill switch in Annemann's practical mental effect.
My inspiration came from "the furtive switch" by Colin McLeod, and I've improved the handling to be more natural (well : just a personal opinion !)
If you want, you can contact me on facebook (Julien Losa) and I can show you a bunch of switches from different authors that have the same taste as well as a lot of differences ! (before releasing this, I did a lot of researches, being a huge fan of billet work)
Best,
Julien
I don't agree with the original comment. I have the French version and, to also possess Looch's work, I can confirm that it's NOT the same thing. The only common point is that a billet is temporarily inserted into another to execute the switch. That's all!
Apart from that, the routine is very well built. However, the technique requires a minimum of training to be done smoothly and naturally. Note that there is a second interesting switch explained in the video.
