So I'm a card guy and wanted something other than cards. This effect looked great and the reviews
were amazing, so I bought it. Just by watching the live performances at the beginning of the
download I knew how its done. I'm sorry for such a harsh review but if I could I would get a refund.

I agree. Family is the most scrutinizing, and kids are the hardest to fool at times, and if hes used to card magic, there is no way one could believe this out of nowhere, making the method what matters to the spectator.
I don't think being a card guy has anything to do with this. I've had this since it came out. Its likely you don't have the chops to pull it off. That is okay. I don't have the chops to pull off certain things. Its also likely that you didn't use the subtleties.
This is what I would suggest. Do it in an unassuming way. This works better when the participant doesn't know what's coming. If they know a prediction is coming, they are already trying to figure it out. If they don't know that a prediction is about to occur. They feel that they are going through whatever "process" you are taking them through. Find out if sitting helps you do the necessary work.
Some people use jackets. I wear mostly hoodies. If I were to do that, I would use a hoodie and a small sharpie. Or the traditional material. If they don't know it's coming, they will not be looking at you.
Another tip I would add is to be in very close proximity to the participant. The closer you are to a person, the less likely moves like that can be detected. Almost as if you are doing a pickpocket routine, but you are doing the necessary work, here.
Just try it and see what happens.
