In response to overwhelming demand, Eugene Burger's, the long out-of-print, Mastering the Art of Magic Book has been reprinted. It is an oversized hardcover with dustjacket, printed on quality acid-free paper and contain oodles of great tricks (enough for your entire repertoire) as well as thought-provoking and educational essays by Eugene, widely recognized as one of the greatest thinkers and teachers of magic in our lifetime.

The seven small booklets written by Eugene Burger and published in the early 1980s, Secrets and Mysteries, Audience Involvement, Secrets of Restaurant Magic, Eugene Burger on Matt Schulien's Fabulous Card Discoveries, Intimate Power, The Craft of Magic and Rediscoveries have been out of print for years. Thanks to Richard Kaufman, they are now available in a new 230 page hardcover book, with almost 200 illustrations by Earl Oakes. These hard to find booklets have been collected in a completely re-typeset format with new essays by Eugene commenting on his past writings, his current thoughts on his tricks and routines, as well as updated tricks. Many feel these are the best books Eugene Burger ever wrote.

The book is actually a collection of several booklets Mr. Burger wrote in the 80's that I don't believe are available any longer. Some sections of of Eugene's magic from his own repertoire. Others are about theory and philosophy of magic discussed in a very unique way, looking for meaning deeper than what misdirection is and how to be natural, though both of those are also discussed. And lastly, after the very mystical and philosophical thinking, there is lots of very practical and usable advice like why you should have a script (instead of "patter") and how to behave doing restaurant magic.

Eugene is possible the well rounded thinker, writer, and performer of magic. He is the absolute epitome of Tenki's famous quote, "Magic is not tricks. It is a way."

This should be required reading for anyone that is serious about taking their performance to the next level. Timing is everything. This definitely holds true for this publication. By combining his previous releases into one volume and updating presentations and methods.

I believe these are more treasured now then when they were first written.

Yes you’ll learn some great effects. But if you study what has been presented about theory and presentation you will learn so much more.

Thank you Mr. Burger.

I love reading his reviews of his original books. I love to understand how he feels and his ideas. I have not finished the book yet, but so far so good! His old magic articles are fun and to read his words describing these books so many years later is interesting.
