Double Take is a deceptive double color changing deck routine wows even seasoned magicians. This long time feature, direct from Paul Richards' working repertoire is an original and offbeat take on a classic premise of card magic.

You display a red back deck of cards. The spectator is asked to select three cards from the deck and each card is removed. The cards are seen to have red backs and still the magician slowly changes each selection into a BLUE BACKED card! No extra cards are used, only the three selections are in your hands! You now pick up the remainder of the deck - and they have all changed to blue backed cards!

But before the spectator can say the words, "Can you change them back?" - the cards change back to the original color!

It's ultra visual magic that is easy to perform and - best of all - it never fails to garner serious jaw dropping reaction! Double Take uses no rough and smooth, no high tech moves, and the deck can even be used for multiple effects before the big change occurs!

Also includes a bonus Ultra Fast Change in which the deck apparently changes color with just a "wave of your hand"!

Comes complete with Bicycle gaffed deck and detailed instructional DVD with additional ideas and insights.

Decent trick, but overpriced Report this review

My title pretty much summarizes it. I bought this in the Open Box, but if I paid full price, I wouldn't be happy.

The effect is decent, but this should be a $7 download instead of a $25 effect. Yes, it comes with a low-quality DVD and deck (including the "gimmick"), but most people browsing this site would have the extra cards necessary to create this deck.

Another issue I had with the effect is that it's too "fast n' flashy." During most of the effect, you're just providing your audience with quick flashes of the cards. Yes, I understand why, but I have an issue with effects that leave the spectators feeling like "something fishy just happened." That being said, it's a neat effect, especially if you're working in a place where people are drinking ("fast n' flashy" works good with this type of crowd).

If you can grab this in the Open Box, I recommend it!

(This review is for Double Take by Paul Richards)
Perfect for table hopping or opener/closer. Deceptively easy. Very entertaining.

Price is a little steep for what you get but damn good effect nonetheless.

Wow easier than I thought Report this review

When I saw the trailer I thought wow what a great visual. Then I saw the DVD and thought "There is no way I can do this.. too much involved...He talks so fast on the DVD ...I just slowed it down pushed pause..got all the moves down in 30 min. and perfected it. I can not believe I can do it...It is sooo easy and when you get used to it the cards really work themself...Nice Trick!!! Very nice!!! I am giving it a 4 just because he goes so fast on the DVD..but you can slow and push pause and it all works out!!!

Misassembled Deck and Bare Bones DVD Report this review
Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on July 31st, 2019
The deck was not properly assembled, containing duplicates of halfthe deck. Obviously not something that can be used for presenting the effect because selections are taken from both halves. The gimmick could easily be made at home with easily gathered supplies, and this could have easily been a $10 download. During the interview, he says he goes into detail on the dvd about the other ways he uses the deck, but he pretty much says only the same general statements he made in the interview on this page, as on the DVD.

I’m short, way too pricey for an unusable deck, when I could have and am now forced to make my own, coupled with a lackluster dvd with less than 10 minutes of actual instruction. Also, his “Ultra Visual Change” is a generic suggestion to do a color change or pass.

A fine handling of a classic plot, but a poorly executed product makes me disappointed in the makers of such a product and I will hesitate to buy from them in the future.

Great Card Magic Report this review
Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on May 25th, 2017
Great color changing deck effect. Simple to learn and you can add whatever pattern you like to make it unique to you. Paul is a great teacher. I do this in my strolling set and get great reactions. The initial color change just shocks them and when it changes back it leaves them speechless. Plenty of cards to do a few tricks first then crush them with this to end it.

I love this illusion with color changes right in your hands
Performed it for my senior magic club members and they thought it was great. The one slight it uses gives me a small challenge but I'm working on it. I love this trick

Double Take Report this review

Great effect, great method. However, buyer beware.

I received 2 Double Takes from Penguin and in both cases the decks were misassembled and I had to use other decks to correct the problem of having duplicates in the red and blue back cards.

I emailed Penguin about this and suggested that whoever was assembling the decks needed to be fired. It's quite easy to take a red and blue deck and correctly assemble 2 Double Take decks without having duplicates.

it is a good effect, but we already have everything we need, so it would be more right and useful to sell the download only.

... because you do it AFTER another good trick like Paul Gordon’s DIMINISHED NOT LIKELY, and now you have a powerful, eye popping card magic routine. I love it.
