I had one of these years ago and ordered another with the expectation of it being a cheap device, but I hoped it would at least arrive in working order. It was missing the flint and set screw when I opened it. Luckily, I found the screw in the bottom of the box and I'm the kind of guy that keeps a baggie full of flints from lighters so I remedied that problem. After about 15 uses though, the inner workings gave up. This is not a user serviceable item. Everything is crimped and spot welded shut. I do not fault Penguin Magic. This is just a very cheaply made item. It's a neat effect if it works, but I recommend you spend your $5 bucks on something else.

Order two flashes one of them came with the little handle broken and the other one came with a flint missing the whole thing was a complete piece of garbage and I wouldn't spend one penny on it is if I was you.

but such an shame no one can mass produce these properly anymore.

I had a few telefunken rings in my time, the last one broke before I even had a chance to try it on someone.

At least this one has been used on someone. I figure if I can show 2 or 3 more people before it breaks, then that’s about $1.66 a laugh, so worth it, kind of.

The flint and the screw holding it in place were loose in the box when I received it and it didn't come with proper instructions on how to assemble everything. It was a bit tricky to make it work reliably but after a bit of experimentation I can now make it shoot a big spark every time.

Once you know how tight to screw in the flint it's actually pretty fun and can be used in various creative ways. The quality isn't the best but i haven't had any problems with the mechanism breaking. The ring part on top has become a bit loose but it isn't vital for the ring to work and it would probably be fairly easy to reattach if it fell of.

The product is pretty good for the price but i wish it came with clearer instructions and was a bit better quality
