I think there will definitely be some over analyzed skepticism over this method of this effect, but I can assure you I've played with many different methods and bought many different ones published. To date this and "the Hole" by peter eggink are the best overall... They both have there fine points, either way I'd recommend anyone whos seriously looking into working the "hole" plot to get both methods. Since this is a Porthole review I will go to say that overall porthole is the cleanest method I've seen.. you are totally clean and free with your hands, and the deck is not prepared in anyway. No gimmicked cards!!! The only gimmick is completely disguised and will never be noticed... the moment the actual gimmick is brought into play is on an offbeat and will NEVER be noticed... you animate the hole just as it would look and bam... your clean... both hands are empty and the card is 100% examinable... doesn't get much better! Plus Daryl includes everything you need to get started. Overall GREAT effect!

When I first received Porthole I was surprised by the heft of the DVD. As soon as I opened it I was amazed by the treasure trove of goodies inside. Mr. Vanamburg certainly has won me over with the quantity and quality of accessories he included with this effect. This was definitely not one of those "gotta pay the mortgage so I better crank out some bit of theoretical fluff" tricks that many other magicians are so apt to do, along with their patent 6 minute DVDs shot with a cell phone camera. Mr. Vanamburg has put a great deal of thought into this and it shows. Likely any experienced magician who watches the trailer can decipher the method, BUT you will not be able to recreate all that has gone into making this particular effect a real worker. This is worth purchasing, not only to support Mr. Vanamburg in future endeavours but to avail yourself of the ingenious accoutrements that accompany this wonderful magic effect. I thought long and hard before I ordered this, and as too rarely happens.....I'm very glad I did

It does take a little time to create the gimmick, but it's worth it. Great concept. I received a different "moving hole in a card" trick for Christmas but it wasn't as good a concept as this. The overall handling is pretty easy. I'm still working on getting some of the maneuvers smoother but once I have it down, it will be great to perform. I like that there were extra supplies to create both a red & blue bicycle gimmick. I could have used a little more glue to be able to make a third. I would definitely recommend this trick to anyone.

I love the moving hole plot. I have just about every version. This is a very clean and easy way to get a visual hole to move across a card before handing it out. Porthole is also the perfect follow up to S.T.C. I highly recommend Porthole if you want a clean visual Moving Hole.

out to the spectator. The gimmick is so clever.

This is a very visual miracle that leaves people dumbfounded!
Making the gimmick is time-consuming, but worth the time for the 'punch' of this effect.

The one problem is, how do you continue to perform the trick after the sharpie runs dry???????
