mentalism

The performer places five cards face up in a row on the table. He hands five other cards face down to one spectator, explaining that these are duplicates of the cards on the table. The spectator shuffles the five cards, and then deals one card, face down, onto each of the face up cards. When the cards are turned over, and to the utter astonishment of the spectators, ALL OF THE CARDS HAVE BEEN CORRECTLY PAIRED!

What You Get

Gimmick cards, a vinyl wallet and written instructions.

The problem here is that you're leaving gaffed cards all over the table, and the manner in which you're displaying the "matches" looks so unnatural. Let's face it, the normal way you'd show a "match" is to put the cards face up next to each other. The required method for displaying these matches attracts suspicion, and instinctively, the first thing an engaged spectator will want to do is pick up a pair of these cards and check them out.

There are other effects in which the spectator is in control and yet manages to correctly match or identify cards, which don't leave you exposed like this. The only good thing about this effect is that you end up with some gaffed cards which you can then use for other effects.

This trick sucks, its stupid and people pick up on it as soon as you turn the cards over. I was cought both times I did the trick, please offer this as a free trick cause its not worth the money.

Actually, the backs aren't bicyles either. But close. The cards are made of plastic, but that's so they will last longer. Why are bikes so important to everybody? I realise it truly is important in some cases, but usually there are thousands of different decks out there in the world, and while it's understandable that the magician may prefer bikes, other people will simply not care.

Very easy to perform. I purchased it even though I knew how it's done. It may not be the most spectacular trick in the world, but still I was stunned when watching it for the first time and even just reading about the effect. I believe the odds of this happening by itself is 1 in 15 (1 out of 5 for the first card, 1 out of 4 for the second, 1 out of 3 for the third, one out of 2...and so on). One suggestion for the patter: I think it would be alright to say someting along the lines of: "the first one is a free shot on the house, I want to see if *I* am psychic"....and then whatever the outcome, take it from there (and now let us see if YOU are truely mental)....or something like that. Congratulate them on being "truly mental".

Great effect! Report this review

The idea is ingenious. This is a great effect for when you want the spectator to feel like they did the work in the trick. It goes well with Paul Curry's "Out of this World," and Scott Cram's "The Sweetest Sound" which can also be purchased on Penguin Magic.

I'm just a fair magician, but this is truly not a good trick-at all. Even if your audience doesn't want to look at the cards before the trick, or touch the cards after, the slightest thought about the turn-over will expose the secret. Kind of disappointed with your reviewers. I can't believe any reasonable magician can think this is a three, four or five star trick. And Ozs' performance, in this case, is not good. Sorry! Pass on it or show it to children, only.

A nice packet trick Report this review

Corinda's Pentaquin is a great routine based on a simple principle. Because every decision is left up to the spectator with no forces present, it makes the effect so strong. The downside is that it's not 100% inspectable by the audience, like most packet tricks, but that shouldn't stop you from considering this. Tricks like this will get you some great reactions. If you don't already have this trick then think about getting it.

Jaw dropping results so far with this one. My reputation as a magician soared with this in my routine.

Great Easy Effect Report this review

No, you won't fool any magician friends you may have, but this is an easy, straightforward, and surprisingly effective packet trick. You'll be able to master it with little practice, but you'll be able to pull off a great illusion. I enjoy putting the magic into THEIR hands. My only disappointment is that, while the backs are Bicycle, some of the faces were clearly not Bicycles (at least, clear to me). But why worry about that? Give it a shot!

Pentaquin has an Out Of THis World feel to it. They make all the decisions, yet the outcome is amazing.

Do not worry about them wanting to look at the cards. Follow Oz's routine and they will not look at the cards.
