Shin lim has performed with this gaff deck in front of thousands of lay audiences around the world. For years he has considered this his secret weapon. He is now sharing it with you...

Prepare yourself to harness the greatest gaff deck ever produced!

This exciting 2 DVD set comes with a gaffed deck, gimmicks and 8 full routines!

Some of the routines included:

52 shades of red: This is the featured routine shin uses in his professional stage act. It is the cleanest possible color changing deck ever conceived. Imagine showing every single Blue Card in the deck. Next, you turn the cards over and show the pips of every single card. On your command the deck changes from blue into red. You turn once again to show the face of every single card is now blank. (A live performance of 52 shades of red was recorded in Beijing China and is shown on the DVD.) This act alone is worth the price of the DVD package.

Color changing box: possibly one of the cleanest color changing box effects ever. The audience sees all sides of a blue box. And with just a wave or toss (whichever you prefer) the card box changes into a red box of playing cards. Again, you can show every single side of the box cleanly.

Impossible card vanish/color change: The title explains it all. Imagine cleanly showing two jokers and an ace of hearts. The spectators can also examine the cards if you want them to. You then place the ace in between the two jokers and in a split second the ace vanishes cleanly in between the 2 jokers. You can show all sides of the jokers. Shin teaches you how to use the same gimmick in order to perform one of the cleanest color changes anyone can perform.

Bonus section: Imagine showing 4 aces that are blue backed. With just a wave, they turn into 4 kings that are red backed. Also included in the DVD shin teaches you how to vanish an entire pack of cards in an extremely clean manner.

The video of this is amazing and definitely looks like camera tricks. It's not, as most of the stuff here can be done with a little work. I say "most" as there is one major color change that is done with something not included here, and his exact instructions are "I'm not going to show you how to make one, and you can buy them online at a lot of places." This isn't so true, as you can't buy one here at Penguin or at any other online retailer I've found. He does show you another way to accomplish the change but it involves more work.

You'll need rubber cement for a lot of this. The gaff deck included does a lot of work, but for most of the really visual stuff you'll have to build your own gaffs using something else he includes with this. The problem is that there aren't enough "something else's" to create everything on the DVDs. Also, you aren't given an idea of where to buy more of them so you can put them all together.

Which brings us to the last downside. This is a parlor or stage act for the most part. No matter how skilled you are at building the gaffs, they will not hold up to close scrutiny. Performing the ace vanish between the court cards you see on the video won't happen in a close-up setting in normal room light. Neither will the change from the ace to queen shown when he waves his hand over it. Don't get me wrong, it looks smooth and sharp, but it's weak in close inspection.

This is a very fun act to watch, and the idea of creating these real-life camera tricks is too inviting to pass up. Just keep in mind that you'll have some strong limitations in performance.

There is soo many things you can do with this. 55 dollar is reasonable price for this dvd and what you're about to learn from this. But, only if you're good with crafting and have more money to spend on this to get it completely set.

Only several problem from this is, it does not include one gimmick that I want to learn how to make (Instant Color Flap Card), so I made a few phone calls that you can get the one you're looking for. It called "Color Drop" by Bizzaro. I can't really promise you that it is the one because I haven't brought it yet. But next month, I should be able to when I get some money. Second, there is one object that is main involving with this and I have extremely difficult time getting the right kind. Joanne's Crafting, Wal-Mart, Michael's Craft, Home Depot, etc... Holy C***, none of them have the one I'm looking for. Instead I brought one online and I got the wrong kind because it too strong and it kinda ruin some of my works. If you're too lazy, don't want to do crafting, suck crafting or don't have any patient. Then this is not for you. All in all. It very costly but ton of fun and really does worth it for me.

Stage piece Report this review

I bought this with the full intention of creating a strong piece of stage magic to add to my small collection of stage tricks. I am primarily a close up and street performer but am looking to expand what I can do, and this has allowed me to take my stage magic to the next level and it should be viewed as only a stage act. But of course a very creative person can make this into whatever he wants

Red Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on December 22nd, 2013
I really enjoyed 52 shades of red. As the other review stated, it is true he doesn't tell you how to make one thing, as you can by it almost anywhere, I don't know why they had problems finding it, you just have to know what your looking for, or you can ask here on penguin, as they will help you as well.

I like how a lot of it is DIY, so you can get it to your own specifications, if you don't like DIY's don't get this, as that is a lot of the dvd. I would say you could preform about 80 to 85 percent of this for walk around, the only thing you couldn't is the deck vanish/production, which wasn't a big deal for me. I think you can do the sandwich disappearance section anywhere, as I already have. I really like everything he has to offer on the dvd except a special something he provides is not enough to get your gaff system complete, but you can probably buy more online or something, I haven't really looked yet. The deck itself you cannot hand out for inspection, but the things you can do with it make up for it, he also teaches this really cool street/strolling routine, that I haven't tried yet, but It looks great.

All in all, this is a very great visual collection of tricks that I couldn't pass up, but like I said don't get it if you don't like DIY's. Considering you can do most of the tricks on the street is great, but that also depends on how good you make your gimmicks, and the condition of the cards.

close up liable Report this review

Shin teaches a version of this trick that can be done close up in my opinion, concluding with a signed card in a phone case. in my opinion you can easily clean up at the end, if you want to give the deck to the spectator do a deck switch! purchase a blank faced red deck to clean up and you will be OK.

this is such a good DVD and gaffed deck, you can also purchase the gimmicks as a pose to g them if you dislike DIY. It has so many visual tricks and there are so many adaptations you can add to this, get this !

Worth it, but requires time and construction Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on March 5th, 2014
This is visually stunning card magic. Buyers should know that the main deck and color changing packet will take a decent amount of time to construct. You'll also need to supply some of your own materials (several card packets, Krazy glue, rubber cement) to create the illusions as demonstrated. While a good deal of DVD time is spent reviewing construction of the props, far less is spent on demonstrating exactly how to use the props. Intermediate card handlers with the ability to execute or learn the riffle force and bottom palm will be well suited. A large array of card effects and "dark magic" are demonstrated for the money. More recommended for the enthusiast willing to create something themselves, but less recommended for those in search of an out-of-the-box quick trick.

Very visual tricks Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on August 28th, 2014
This DVD is amazing, the teaching and explanations are very clear but you have to buy a few extra things like rubber cement and super glue to complete the gaffing. I was so impressed by the trailer that I wanted to be able to impress people with shin's stunning visual magic as it impressed me, and now I do.
when I received it and watched it I was so amazed that it is all real and there is no camera trickery. The reactions I get from performing these tricks are priceless. once you have mastered the handling you will be able to perform miracles.

The gaff deck can do a load of stuff and they are very smooth but mainly you have to make a lot of the tricks yourself using Rubber cement and super glue (and special secret gimmick provided), but even so I probably prefer that, so I can make the gimmicks to the way I like them. Shin is one my favourite magicians so far because all of his tricks are so visual. I really, really recommend getting this DVD and gimmick's.

Be prepared to AMAZE!!!

Amazing but a lot of work Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on June 5th, 2014
As mentioned by others there is a lot of DIY involved. This amount of DIY is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. If you spend time actually making the gimmicks well this is great. I would recommend not stripping the cards in some situations and just using normal ones instead. The spectators honestly don't see the difference. Also, make sure to take time in using this system to develop routines that work. Don't try to do Shin's routine or anyone elses. Really get creative and make this your own. I would recommend ordering extra gimmicks.
