A device that allows the user to manipulate the position of a card to anywhere in the deck without actually handling the deck.

Soap (card at any number)
No gimmicked cards no duplicate cards. The spectator names a number between 1 and 52, you remove the deck from its box and hand to the spectator no shuffles no sleights. Spectator counts to their number turning each card over. The card at their number is the card you have predicted.

The Force
Force a card without touching the deck.
Ask a spectator to name any number between 1 and 52 and use that card for your next effect.

Prediction poker
You have 4 cards that make part of a perfect poker hand you will need 1 card to complete the hand. Spectator names a number and the card at that number is the exact card you would need to complete your perfect poker hand.

Odd
Have a red backed card appear at any number named.

Trading places
Have a card selected from a red backed deck and tear the corner off, the spectator holds onto the corner and the rest of the card is returned to the deck and lost within. The deck is handed to the spectator and the card cannot be found. You take out the engineers deck ( blue back) and ask for a number, the spectator deals to this number and their torn card is waiting at that number. The torn corner matches.

Blanks
Apply the method to blank business cards and have a prediction already written on one card. Whatever number is named is the card with the prediction.

Identity
A prediction is made beforehand.
Ask any spectator to add together all the numbers from their date of birth. The total number is used to count down the deck. The card at the number is the correct prediction.

All of the above routines use a standard deck only. No repeating cards and nothing left behind in the box. No shuffling. Every card can be examined.

There is a gimmick used. The construction is a bit involved, maybe will take 30 minutes to construct. Honestly, I never even constructed the gimmick, because the next day I learned ACAAN from Asi Wind which is a far superior method. But I knew there be a gimmick purchasing the effect, so I am not complaining about that.

The deck is completely normal. You can use the Engineer gimmick as an strong opener. The spectators will never detect the gimmick if you are careful and the cards are entirely examinable. This is great, can hand out the cards immediately for inspection. Furthermore, there is no stack to memorize (until in ACAAN variations).

The demo video is mostly honest. However, depending on the number chosen you may need to transport 1 or 2 cards. The instruction video explains how you can do this in a very natural looking way without drawing suspicion. Personally, I would just top-palm one or two cards, because I love to do card sleights at any opportunity. But if you are scared of palming cards then you can avoid it. (I suggest palming because "simplicity is powerful" is a principle I strongly believe in, eliminate as many visible moves as possible.)

The video quality is poor. But I was not purchasing a video for artistic high-definition value, just to learn the secret, and it did its job just fine. The instructions also come along with a PDF document with more details.

The biggest fault with this product is that, unfortunately, there are signifigantly better methods. The ACAAN method that I learned the next day can do everything the Engineer does and is on top of it cleaner looking. There is another trick on PenguinMagic, called "Grail", which from its demo videos looks just like the trick done by the Engineer. I never bought that secret yet, though from the looks of it the "Grail" seems to be visually better.

That is the reason why I give this product 4 stars. If you buy this product you will be able to do the wonderful trick shown in the demo, it will get great reactions. So there is nothing wrong with this product. It is just obsolete by better existing methods. So if you are familiar with other card-positioning methods, you may end up never using the Engineer.
