My favourite piece of magic to perform for almost all situations is the "Homing Card" routine
described in this volume (2). An offbeat, funny, killer ending card to pocket routine. Never fails
to amaze even the most annoying hecklers. You should be buying this NOW! Oh yeh, I think I forgot to
mention to other 300+ pages of meticulously detailed magic... BUY THE SET NOW!!

Card College (V1-5) is just one of the many references I own in my magic library. However, it
stands alone as the best reference of any I have ever seen. I started out in magic not able to do
anything with cards. I couldn't shuffle, I couldn't spread the cards, and I certainly couldn't
control the cards. Over the course of several years I worked my way through every page of this
series on cards. As a result I have become extremely comfortable (and competent) performing card
magic. The slights are explained, with excellent graphics, better than any other reference I own.
The tricks are just fantastic. When I find tricks in other references that mention slights which I
may not be familiar with or that I might be rusty performing, I just refer to card college for the
explanation on the slight.
If anyone plans on doing card magic, this series may be the
best reference on the market. Please note that if you are making an investment in one of these
books, plan on buying all the books as you will want a complete reference. Each book focuses on

Here we get into more advanced techniques, and you should spend much time on this material. Buy
these books one at the time, as Darwin Ortiz writes! Card College volume 2 gives you a lot of
material, most noteably the classic pass, palming techniques, false cuts and finally a real,
practical double lift to use. The flourish section is essential, with the one handed shuffle and
some coul turnover techniques to mention some. Good tricks include homing card plus and
ambitious card routine.
Last but not least: the theory section is AMAZING! Man, this guy is
so rich on knowledge, and so good on conveying it. Card college 2 is a must have, but buy volume 1

The Card College series is similar to books like "Modern Coin Magic" for coin workers, or "Royal
Road to Card Magic" or "Expert Card Technique" for card guys...it's a MUST HAVE. The book is a
staple in card magic that will not only give you a fantastic start into card magic, but will give
you an excellent source of sleights and effects for years and years to come.
I bought the
Card College series years ago, and even after making a successful living in magic for over a decade
now I still benefit from the books. Everytime I flip through the books I find something new, or
something I'd forgotten, or something that I'm now ready for that I wasn't before.
simply must get these books. If you are even reading any reviews on these books just add them to
card now. It's well worth it.

Hard not to echo what everyone else is saying about these books but I want to point out the value of
Volume 2. There are many great tricks but where I learned a lot was from the ending section
discussing theory. The ideas presented literally made me change how I perform and construct a trick.
Rather than doing sleights and moves, it caused me to determine which sleight works best in this
situation and how can I transition to the next trick. I'm super glad I have this set and look
forward to getting the hard to get volume 5. Buy the books if you want to take your magic next
This volume is no exception. One small side note: I'd highly recommend Giobbi's accompanying videos
that are based on Card College 1 & 2. These are tremendously helpful to aid the books. I'm not sure
if they're available on Penguin, but they're available as a direct download from Giobbi's site.
