I love Richard Osterland and most of what he has produced, but the attention paid to the gimmick in this download is way, way too long (reminds me of his "Bank Night" opening routine opening one of his instant downloads where he just goes on and on and on.

I love the swami gimmick. I am developing a lot of misdirection techniques, how to write in true folds of paper (not a corner - which seems so obvious as well as unusual to write on the card corner).

What I was hoping to see was much more method and technique. What has he developed and tried that sucked for him? What (throughout his thousands of shows) always works? Etc., etc. Very disappointed the ID did not contain much more of that type of thing. That's what I want to learn from a seasoned master mentalist.

The swami gimmick writer is an absolutely amazing tool that by no means is "on its way out" (as another review wrongly suggests). With brilliant misdirection, well thought-out patter, etc., you can produce miracles that blow spectators minds at a moments notice.

Long live swami gimmicks and modified and new methods/technique to continue to produce incredible amazement!

Another winner from Richard Osterlind. I already have most of Richard's DVDs, yet I learned new things on this video lesson. Everything you need to know for close up and stage use of a swami. My favorite part of this download is where Richard teaches 'Inside the Fold' including the 'Super-Secret Dr. Jaks move'. Very cool, very practical and very deceptive.

Great course on effectively preparing and using the swami. Thank you, Richard!

Listening to Mr. Osterlind is like listening to an old college professor who is skilled at breaking everything down. He helps you to grasp a better understanding of this all important magician's tool.

I had been struggling with the gimmick. (fit, writing etc)
Like so much in magic, all I needed was a few pointers and everything fell into place. This provided those pointers and much more. Can't wait for the rest of the steps.

I have been impressed with Mr. Osterlind's presenations and lectures/DVD's for years. He has a straight-forward approach and easy to follow.

I got the first in the series and was captivated. I did not get the second because it is not an area of interest. Regarding the Swami Gimmick, I have never experience such a rich, helpful, and informative presentation on the subject! (That's from a magician who will probably never use one.)

I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Even if you don't prefer a swami gimmick, this is quality stuff. I've always used a boon but after watching this video I dug out my swami from the drawer and started working with it.
So far, each lesson has been loaded with helpful, practical information. Keep 'em coming!

This is a great lesson on swami gimmicks, its an hour long. Many great things are taught including hot to fit, prepare, and use the gimmick.

Question: Does anyone know where to get the swamis that he uses in the video?

As one comment said, it would be nice to know what did not work in his early use of the swami. But the information given is gold. What undernail writer works, how to prepare it, how to fit it, how to subtly get it on your finger (although that does require practice).
There are routines given for its use, If they are not enough, look at Osterlind's other DVDs.
For those who criticize the lack of routines, this is not something you will do an hour show on! This is a utility, a very valuable utility, that, as a mentalist you need to know how to use.
If the undernail version is not for you, try the Vernet Magnetic Boon writer or a band writer.
Richard Osterlinnd does cover the various types of thumb writers on another of his DVD projects (Corinda?).
