Regardless, the Divining Rods are some really nice 'hot rods' which have been available ever since I can recall.
You'll even see some 'Fantastyks' that are cheaper, but the effect is identical.
You'll need to learn the 'paddle move' which is very easy and, surprisingly, deceptive.
The quality of the trick's effect is highly dependent on your presentation skills.
Simply, the better you are, the better the trick plays.
Regarding your CD, not sure what your tech guys problem was...even if the disc was formatted incorrectly, which is unlikely, he should've been able to retrieve the data for you.
Suggestion...find a new tech guy. The process for retrieving the data, although challenging for the computer lay person, it isn't difficult to do with the right tool...but that's another dialogue altogether.
