Max Maven created this effect in the 70's and performed it during FISM in 1985.
Since that time many similar effects have been released. Max's is the original. Max taught his effect on his huge DVD project Kayfabe but until now he has not sold a deck made specifically for this effect.
When Get Sharky was released those in the know acknowledged that it was Max's routine. The idea of having a card peeked, and the magician stating that he'd perform the effect with only one hand, and the twist of it being the hand in the pocket is all Max Maven's.
That said Get Sharky uses a different method. The back design is the Phoenix back and the finish is extra smooth and a little funky to those who handle playing cards.
Pocket Nightmare uses Bicycle 808 Rider backed cards with an air cushion finish.
With Pocket Nightmare your pocket is completely empty with the exception of the card. The spectator could remove the card themselves. This cannot be done with Get Sharky. You also have the option of transporting the card to another location. I personally like the idea of just placing my hand behind my back to perform this effect and revealing the card that way. You can do that with Pocket Nightmare, but not Get Sharky.
