How can anyone talk non-stop for over 2 hours without even taking a sip of water? Paul can because
he is so adept, polished and relaxed at performing in front of an audience that hes totally at
ease. He is an incredible public speaker.
While it is easy for some viewers to be overcome
with Pauls high-energy talent for story telling, I found that his lecture was almost void of any
real instructional material that the aspiring mentalist/cold reader could readily put to use.
Except for the very few moments where he rushes through the meanings he has applied to
certain playing cards and suits, the rest of the time was spent demonstrating his glib ability to
impress the audience with his talents to speak multiple languages, sing, name drop and manipulate
people to get what he wants. At best, this lecture offers an insider view on the practices of a
fortune teller.
If you are looking for a tutorial on mentalism, this lecture is not it.
Did you expect him to give you a script for cold reading? A serious student of the art will realise that Draper's contribution is excellent, particularly for the price. His whole point is to teach WHY he does what he does. You could copy his meanings for cards, etc, but seriously, if that's what you're after then just do a google search.
Cold reading isn't monkey work. You have to put a piece of yourself into it. Draper gives you a framework for developing your own meanings that will fit with your persona and be dynamic enough take into account the great inter-subject variability we see.
Great lecture. And remember if you don't know much about mentalism, these lecture are not a primer for beginners, go and do a little study first and then come back and download lectures from Draper, Osterlind, Cassidy, etc.
