Quarter Pounder is a magical meal Report this review

This is a gem of a gaff along with a brilliant handling. I figured out the climatic move to make the final coin disappear, however I was stumped on the reveal. Now that I'm in the know, I'm still scratching my head as to just how clever this is! Yes, you will fool other magicians and most importantly you will amaze your audience!

Out of Mint Coins Report this review

(This review is for Quarter Pounder by R. Paul Wilson)
Don't get me wrong I think the trick is great (and would probably be 4 stars).

However, the style of ten pence piece used in the gimmick hasn't been minted for eleven years. Hence, the gimmick instantly stands out. Unfortunately, this makes the trick a lot less useable in a day to day setting.

Great trick... just over priced. Report this review

I will have to say I love this trick. Going to take a day or two to get use to the handling. But it is fooling.

As far as the price goes. This should not be $40. I can make this myself and it cost me .25 cents. The gimmick is well made. You get a replacement you will have to make yourself and you also get one made that is ready to go. Again I love the trick. Just too over priced. You get 16 minutes worth of teaching. I honestly believe it is worth half the price myself.

Keep up the magic guys.

The Beauty of Simplicity Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on August 10th, 2018
I you're the type of magician that doesn't think they are getting their "magic money's worth" unless a trick contains some kind of exotic gimmick(s) chances are you will not like this. However, if you appreciate simple, well made props, along with a very well though out routine, then you will absolutely LOVE this! This will fool the hell out of lay people as well as your magic buddies. A bit pricey, perhaps, but not to the point of deducting even one star.

I was having serious fun within 5 minutes of watching the instructions. It is that easy. The reactions are strong. And, I always love a well engineered coin effect.

Top ten worst tricks over $30 ever. Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on August 21st, 2018
First of all the trick is overpriced. Second it’s a boring trick to even try taking time to learn . I purchased this because I love tricks I can carry with me and required little set up. This was that kind of trick , but not worth the space in my pocket or wallet.

When I got this I was a little disapointed...actually very at $40. Thought to myself this will never work. Thinking will a spectator be able to distinguish one edge from the other. Once I started messing around with it... I found out boy was i wrong. It has gotten great reactions. This is going with me everywhere. Absolutely worth it. Will make you look like a coin wiz.

You'll Need to Practice to Perfection Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on August 18th, 2022
This isn't a gimmick trick. It's a prop trick that requires a LOT of practice to run it smoothly. Probably not repeatable for those with sharp eyes.

Why not provide the coins? Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on December 29th, 2020
I like the effect, Paul Wilson teaches it well. The gaff is easy to carry around.

But... why did they only send the gaff and not the 2 other quarters required? For the price of the effect, 50c worth of coins would not have killed them.

Obviously I am not in USA, but I do have a bunch of half and silver dollars. Now I need to source some quarters and it is frustrating.

Would have been a 4 star effect if they threw in the coins or taught how to make the gaff.

Not, IMHO, Worth the Price Report this review
Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on December 4th, 2018
Minus 1 star--price:
As stated in the tutorial, the gimmick is especially expensive to produce. I suspect that the cost of the trick is at least as dependent on this fact as on the quality of the effect.

Minus 1 star--unnecessary gimmick:
As shown in the demo video, the trick is very visual and gets satisfactory audience response; however, in addition to the gaffed coin, the trick requires some small proficiency with sleight of hand. I suspect that anyone already possessed of such coin handling skill could achieve similarly pleasing results without the gaff.
