A PROFESSIONAL routine that will find a place in your close-up repertoire!

After more than two months of touring in the USA, I'm releasing one of my pet personal routines, one that I do in my close-up act, one that's both original and REALLY magical!

Performed at my lecture at the Blackpool Magic Convention in 2019 in front of more than 650 magicians, LIGHT won over all, both professional and amateur!

A lot of you saw it, a lot of you asked me for it! Today, without further ado, here it is - LIGHT!

Effect:

Take out your deck of cards.
Offer them for examination and have them shuffled.
A card is freely chosen and even signed, if you wish.
While your spectator is signing the card, you remove a light bulb from your pocket.
Rub it on your arm, explaining that you're charging it with electricity.
Your spectator will begin to get curious, but you're not done!
You then take the same bulb and screw it into the middle of the card case!
(Close-up, we can guarantee that this situation will not fail to surprise your spectators.)

Let's sum up what's just happened:

1. A card has been freely chosen.
2. The card has been signed and lost in the deck.
3. A light bulb has been screwed into the card case

The deck is placed face down on the table next to the card case. No one (and this is true) knows where the spectator's card is in the deck.

Show your hand empty. You then bring one card at a time towards the light bulb. One by one, the cards touch the bulb. Suddenly, one and only one card makes the light bulb react by lighting up! Pull the card away, the light bulb goes out! Bring the card towards it again, and the bulb lights up!

You try with other cards, but nothing happens. Only one card - ONE card - causes the bulb to turn on.

Turn over the card! You guessed it; it's the spectator's signed, selected card!

To finish, hand out EVERYTHING (bulb, card, card case) for examination! Your spectators will find NOTHING!

This incredible routine has been in Mickael's repertoire for years. Don't let this amazing effect pass you by!

Don't forget these points:

  • Easy to do
  • No forcing or manipulation
  • The effect is incredible, the bulb seems to light up upon contact with the card. This is a stunning moment!
  • Resets immediately, no preparation
  • Both your hand and the card case are empty
  • Use your own deck of any brand
You saw LIGHT at my lecture, so you know how truly magical it is!

I received this product today and was extremely disappointed in the method. For table or parlor magic it may well but this is definitely not for walk around and most certainly not impromptu. From the description there is definitely some false advertising. If you perform parlor or ta van le card magic, this may be for you but even then still very very disappointing.

Not what I expected at all. Report this review

The gimmick seems reasonably well made and functions as intended (I guess), but the degree of sleight-of-hand skill required is beyond my abilities, and I find the trick not at all "easy to do" as advertised. Also, it requires both "preparation" and "manipulation," which is contrary to the accompanying advertising copy. I gave this trick an extra star for the overall quality of the gimmick, otherwise I would have given only 1 star.

A gimmick with many F/X possible Report this review

I loved this f/x but my audience liked it even more. I have a great story line and sometime use a borrowed cel phone placed in a clean glass so no one can touch the flash and hold this over the cards. It can be used (the gimmick) in many other ways and others who have not seen the possibilities I hope this will give them a second try at new routines. The gimmick is bright and can be used for out door night or street magic. I have even had a spectator hold up their phone on the palm flash side up and a wave of the hand can make the phone flash. The instructions also go over how to hide the (@#$%) behind the cards so no palming. I always try to create my OWN MAGIC and sometime combine other f/x 2 make a new routine and use gimmicks in other ways. FOOD 4 THOUGHT. All Mick's tricks are mainly well designed gimmicks which I do try 2 stay away from and rely on sleights. Fun stuff.

The gimmick is super bright, and rechargeable. It is very easy to ring in and out of play using the method taught by Mickael. This is one of those things that is limited by imagination only. I watched a magician use it to "pull a thought" from someone's head. I've used it to "remove" the lit flashlight from someone's phone.
The intended application using the card box is kind of Rube Goldberg, cartoon comical and plays well to all ages.
The tact switch used requires covering noise to hide the click from the spectators, and I feel the gimmick would be even more versatile if it used a silent switch.
