A GREAT trick you can perform while standing in the coffee line. When it's your turn to pay, you grab ANY gift card near the register and have the barista scan that card. Naturally, nothing happens because the card is yet to be activated. You then pull out a $5 bill and rub it on the card. To their astonishment, when they scan the card again, it works perfectly and they have no clue what just hit them. In short, you get a free cup of coffee and blow their minds at the same time.

And yet Greg does it again! This guy is a machine for coming up with and teaching coffee shop magic but this effect is not just for a coffee shop. This can be done at any retailer that sells and accepts gift cards and has blank cards near the cash. This effect will really amaze any cashier without doubt and needless to say create a very memorable event for them. I have the odd time done a bill switch for a cashier when I supposedly did not have enough money for my purchase but Caffeine Free takes this to a different level.

This is much different from the normal - performing for a spectator who knows you are a Magician and ‘expect’ something magical to happen, this is one one those Candid Camera/Carbonaro stunts that you perform for an unsuspecting person magnifying their reactions as they have no idea of what just happened. This is so much different than anything you may have purchased and have done in the past. Very refreshing and spontaneous to do something new from what you are already doing.

Is there any prep, yes but no, are there any difficult slights or moves to learn - minimal. As usual, Greg and David do a great job of teaching, explaining and demonstrating all the subtitles needed for this very strong trick. Try something a little different.

Cool quickie at the Point of Sale in your favorite coffee shop. Gift Card magic.

Don't stop thinking once you learn this. This great idea will blow sales people's minds wherever you can access gift cards next to the checkout register.

Go forth and amaze!

Highly recommended.

Another great addition to the Coffeehouse Conjuring series. I can see some ppl being afraid of pulling this off, but I’ve done it twice since downloading, and I can vouch that it’s worth the minimal effort (and patience- if you have it). Stellar work from Greg and David yet again.

A new spin on a top change Report this review

Good use of the top change, but not practical...the use of this depends on s on many outside factors...the traffic of the business, the cordiality and willingness of the cashier to actually try to swipe a card that he sees me pick up. It's just got too many moving parts to feel impromptu...even the cashier knew something was up and probably played along due to the presence of the camera. A real store would probably kick me out for that.

Depends on Who's Behind the Counter Report this review

I've tried this three times at my local Starbucks and it went well once. Once it was okay - over the server's head. And once the server wouldn't take the card since it came from the rack - no sense of humor. I think I'll try it with a gift card at my favorite taco joint this week - they're used to my antics.

For zero dollars you can't go wrong. Fun routine but it is more of a prank.

this is simple but good not so much a bit in a show but a magical few seconds and a laugh while in line.

Anything Greg does is good, and he is a heck of a nice guy. I like this, and have a suggestion, you could ask about the gift cards, pick one one and swipe your credit or debit card across it strip to strip or chip to chip, and just say, I never use my personal card anymore, ever since someone hacked into my account, I heard this is the safest way to transfer money, what's the total, Ok I'll swipe that much onto here from this card, or transfer that much from this card to one of these is it Ok to use anyone of them. Then swipe another credit/debit card. that way even though there is no logical way for you to enter the exact dollar amount other than you just said it; you would swipe an exact amount maybe add a dollar tip. rub the two cards together, they pull it off the card, you then switch that card for an inactive card drop it on the counter saying something like, "I guess this is still yours" and leave. You will have them rubbing their cards on gift cards all day long scratching their heads thinking you rubbed it in a way they missed something because they just saw it work. It would be good for your friends to see also, even if the know you do magic. Denny used to open a fresh deck of card and let someone shuffle them, then from the back tell us black or red. No one knows how he did it, I think shiner, another guy though the deck was prepared and sitting there, and yet someone else though he had a stooge signalling him. I am stuck on the shiner because it was too randomly done. But that is the thing none of us know and now we'll never know because we lost Denny a few years back.
