Reinventing The Real by Tyler Wilson The most revolutionary card magic book of the year is also the year's most entertaining read. NOW SHIPPING. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Out of stock.
"Reinventing The Real is the best and most exciting book on close-up magic I've read in a long time. In it Tyler Wilson shows himself wonderfully inventive, a serious student of his craft and very funny. The only fault this book has is that I'm not publishing it. In magic, it's rare that something comes out that's truly different. Moves are based on other moves,
magic books always look like cookbooks... Reinventing the Real is truly different, and it's a GREAT
thing.
Out of the hundreds of books I own (not just magic), Reinventing the Real is easily THE best designed. If this book had no magic, I'd buy it just to look at. It's THAT pretty. More importantly, the material is some of the funniest, most original magic that I've ever seen. I own thousands of magic products, and this material is right up there with the best I've ever seen. Containing completely original sleights and tricks, there are VERY few books that can compare to the sheer volume of genius held between these two beautiful covers. I can not recommend this more highly. Did this review help you?

Well, I had high expectations for this book but ended up very disappointed.
First I will list the pros vs other books: the illustrations are laid out nice showing spectator views as well as your veiw. Other than the fact that I liked the general layout there was nothing interesting to be found. This had to be the most boring book that I own, I was not inspired at all. I purchased this because it was supposed to be different , revolutionary, inspiring and fresh! I really feel awful for buying this book but as I have read many others loved it. It's not a beginners book but it is full of stuff that you probably know as far as sleights go and there is no real improvement on anything. There are a ton of credits which is why most of us already know the sleights. As for fresh patter goes it is just cheesy, I really wish I could find another positive thing to say about this but I cannot. Did this review help you?
Reinventing the Real changed the way I think about the magic I perform. This book has sparked
creativity, made me laugh, and has made me want to perform magic. A few of my favorite
Items:
Ipod Shuffle: Not a trick, but a really cool triumph shuffle that is similar in nature to a zarrow shuffle. I use this in my triumph routine. Schlorange: A true stunner. This is a great card trick to perform, espescially as an opener. Note: pretty difficult. Hippo.....phobia: A spelling trick that's actually entertaining! As a bonus, you also produce 4 aces as a kicker. This is awesome! Hilarious routine. Running Man: A really cool, fun, and entertaining anniversary waltz done with no gimmicks. I like this one. Winona Ryder Trick: This is a supercharged, amazing multiple selection routine. This is a great closer and it gets everyone involved. Note:Extremely difficult (# of sleights this trick has in in the 3 digits. I am not kidding. still a great trick, though.) *69: A great, hilarious trick w/ a memorized deck involving the game of telephone! Note: See the invisible deck handling in the afterthoughts section. Genius. This is a great book. There are great tricks with cards, coins, rubber bands, envelopes, and creamers.I also appreciated the extremely detailed crediting and the fully detailed script. It shows us that Tyler is very dedicated to our craft. More importantly, the book makes you think about the magic you perform and inspires you to be a better magician. Did this review help you?

I would suggest this for the intermediate card magician. You'll be expected to know the more common
sleights. There's even material on memorized card work--so you might want to know a stack.
There are some workers and some interesting effects in here. The patter that's provided is also very funny. But how about a very quick snippet? The idea of using a marked edge to make vanishes, appearances, and transpositions happen is worth the price of admission alone. I am of the mindset that tricks are not necessarily what makes or breaks a book/DVD...it's the principles that can transform your toolbox. Did this review help you?
