Well the other day I recieved my M5 in the mail. I was extremely excited. I opened it up and removed all the contents. I saw this big silver square and looked at it for a while. "This is the MICRO five? It should be MONDO." But I heard that I shouldn't be discouraged from the size. I mean it can fit in the palm of my hand and everything, I was just expecting something tiny. Anyway, I set it up, pulled out the match and attempted to make it move in my own hand. It was ridiculous. I actually had to touch the magnet to the back of my hand in order for the match to move. "What a rip off!" I thought. I was very disappointed that this supposed god of PK magnets was so weak. So I dropped the match and stormed off to finish putting my laundry in the dryer. I reach for the handle and BAM!

My arm slammed into it so hard it hurt my ears! I'm sitting there, feeling like an idiot that I'm stuck to my own dryer, and trying to get this sucker off. It took about five solid seconds before I could remove the little bugger. I wondered why it was so powerful then but not when I tried it earlier?

So throughout the rest of the day, I toyed with it and practiced all the tricks. Ones I thought were cool were awesome, and ones that I thought were stupid ended up very fun and entertaining. Three hours after the getting stuck incident, I was able to move the match any way I wanted from about 3 inches under the hand it was in. When I couldn't get it to work earlier, the problem was I didn't know how to use it. If anybody out there feels this way- practice moving it around when it isn't on your wrist, knee, etc. Just see where the magnet needs to be in order to do stuff.

I'd also like to thank Penguin for their great service. I ordered it on a (late) Saturday night, paid for priority mail shipping, and recieved it on that Thursday. Plus- the shipping only cost me .95 and the box when delivered to my house was over . On top of that, I was shipped a free gift with my package- The Real Man's Coin Wallet, with which I created a trick using it and the M5.

So there you have it. Great product, help provided (Forums with access codes), fast processing, and even a free gift. I have to say that Penguin has made a GREAT first impression with me.... Much bEttEr than anothEr placE I usEd to go. Cough cough, hint hint. ;)

So after reading the mixed reviews, I finally gave into the temptation and bought the M5 to see for myself. It is on the bulky side and although it could be concealed on your leg. If the spectator asks you to roll up your sleeves, and it's on your arm-your toast. Using it on my leg, I was very happy. I recommend buying a steel core quarter with this- not for vanishing- but you can make it flip over on you or your spectators hand. The match is great (again use it on your leg) but the rings are pretty stupid if you ask me. It just screams magnet at the top of it's lungs magic, plus making rings stick together isn't that amazing to begin with. The book only really covers the obvious and is filled with things you would never use. The strap is also disappointing. Not professional. Lastly, be careful when you have the M5 on you. It is powerful. The M5 made me realize how many things are magnetic :) I've been slammed to doors, washing machines, dishwashers, poles, desks, tables, just about everything. Overall, I would get it, but be prepared.

Firstly, it shouldn't be Micro5 ,,,,

Rather it shud be Mega5..

The magnet is bigger than expected....

But,,, it's so damn useful,,,,,!!!!! Also comes with shimmed foil , which can be used fog haunted deck in their hands!!

Also the instruction booklet is very useful...

But I only use it to 'stop watches, flip borrowed coin in their hands, moving objects from a distance without physical contact'

But,,, I wud highly recommend to get

PK ring, wizard PK pens , PK pencils, PK sharpie, the no flip coin , and finally the PK pen by banachek........

These wud elevate ur magic alot!!!

I totally hate this stupid thing. The magnet is so huge that it makes your sleeve stick out and there is a square outline of the magnet. Also, everything you do with it is totally obvious - I did the X-flip coin to a toddler and he said, "It's a magnet!". Overall, I can't believe that I wasted so much money on this. It is now under my bed collecting dust. Did I mention that it is also dangerous to electronics?

ok heres the deal. pretty much everyone is right here ith their reviews. buy yourself a sleel core quarter because the props that come with this are useless(for me). the m5 is small in comparison to other things but large for sleeves. not huge but just a bit cumbersome. oh and yes BE CAREFUL if u keep this on u. very very powerful as it'll slam your hand unexpectedely to anything steel. i got out of my car one night 2 do street magic and it flew clean out of my pocket and slammed into my car door making a sort of gun shot sound.

if you work ith loops or mentalism or hatever this thing will really boost ur confidence. people wont think 'magnet' ever. most magic is ridiculously overpriced as the m5 does not get left out. 100 bucks is just plain stupid. 30-40 is about right.

A powerful tool with poor documentation Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on January 19th, 2006
I finally couldn't resist the temptation--what better collection of tricks to add to one's repertoire than psychokinesis, mentalism, a dose of the unexplained? Well, I must say that I have very mixed feelings about this kit.

The magnet itself is stronger than anything I have purchased from any independent magnet dealer. It appears to be nickel coated, which is a huge bonus, since an uncoated magnet is prone to oxidation and erosion. I feel safe with this magnet.

Don't worry about its size. It is small enough to lay inconspicuously under a loose sleeve, a pant leg, or inside any one of several possible hiding places, such as a deck of cards. With this magnet, you'll have versatility and power.

You also get, as stated, a handful of other items. Of them, I like the "brass" rings, which offer some nice possibilities on a table, in your hand, or in the spectator's hand, and the hollow shell penny, which makes a cool penny-to-dime transformation possible.

I'm not as happy with the two steel core pennies, which are printed with a pre-1956 design that alerts some people that something is afoot. They would trust a modern penny a bit more. (I admit, the majority of your spectators won't necessarily notice, but it's nice to be safe.) I also am disappointed by the "custom strap," which is really just a wide piece of elastic with a three sided pocket sewn into one end and a safety pin to hold it to your wrist. Definitely not professional quality.

Now for my biggest complaint of all, something I hope Penguin Magic (and perhaps Chazpro, the package's maker) will fix:

The documentation is completely unprofessional. It contains many misspellings and errors, mentions illustrations that don't exist, and repeats several of the same tricks and tactics. The "manuscript" is one page, also consisting of mostly repeated material. If you are looking for subtlety in the instructions, detailed presentation advice, or step-by-step suggestions about how to pull off the kind of tricks you're interested in, this documentation does NOT have it. Instead it basically contains a list of ideas--most of which the average hobbyist magician can probably discover on his or her own.

So, the verdict? Powerful tools, poor documentation, mixed results, and the temptation to look elsewhere for better notes.

Overall the m5 is ok, its pretty bulky but the reactions are worth it, it takes some practice to move objects without making them fly to your wrist. Just don't go around levitating stuff that is plainly metal and you're good.

Definitely not my cup of tea - it's merely a dust collector for me, and for the money why bother?
