You announce that youre about to perform one of the oldest effects in all of magic. In your left hand you hold three cups. On the table youve placed three balls. All you ask of your audience is that they watch carefully.

One-by-one you place the cups upside down in a row on the table. With your thumb and forefinger you place one of the balls atop the center cup. You stack the first and third cup on the center cup trapping the ball between the cups. You make brief eye contact with your spectators, snap your fingers, and tap the stack of cups smartly. You lift the stack. To the amazement of your spectators, the ball has traveled down through the stack of cups and sits mischievously on the table.

Now your spectators know what to look for. You proceed Again you place the cups on the table one-by-one, but this time you place the center cup over the first ball. You place the second ball atop the center cup. You stack, snap and tap. With an intrigued look you lift the stack to reveal that the second ball has traveled down through the stack of cups and is sitting on the table next to the first ball.

Without hesitation you heighten the effect by repeating the procedure with the third ball. Your spectators are by this time convinced that there is something funny about those cups. They demand to inspect the cups and the balls. No problem. You shrug and hand them over.

Lance Burton recently performed Cups and Balls on TV.

They're good, but awfully small... Report this review

These cups and balls are very small. They're good for close up work, but nothing else. The balls are white too, which is bad. They should be red; something more visible and attractive. I don't recommend you buy this, but then again, if you want it for close up it is only 3 dollars so it's not too bad.

Cool close up trick Report this review

Classic cups-n-balls trick taken to close-up size with colors. It's cute and attracts attention. Use a colorful pencil as "magic pencil" to tap on the cups for the trick. Less than 2 inch in size, these cups are easy to carry around and to present right in front of people. Love them for simple tricks, and so do people who I show it too.

it comes with the instructions on how to do the trick.. I highly recommend this..

The cups are obviously meant for kids (maybe when your about to do a kids party.) If you work in a restaurant, I suggest using theirs..

Buy it for the method.. not for the cups themselves.
If you want to take it to the next level you can find 'Table Hopping cups and balls' here in Penguin.

This is a good stage or kids show trick. I would recommend it for kids or stage shows though.

This is a set that I think every beginner has had at one time or another. I buy them to give away to volunteers during family shows. If you want to learn a simple routine and not spend a lot of money this is a good way to go. If you are wanting something to perform in a more formal or professional setting this is not what you are looking for. It is an inexpensive set that is for the beginner or someone looking for a simple routine more to entertain themselves and a few spectators. You are not going to be performing serious slight of hand with the balls in this set and the cups are way to light for many techniques of the advanced cups and balls routines. It is Ok with the noted provisions.

These arent exactly the worst cups and balls set ever, but I don't suggest you get them. Why? It is a good cups and balls set and you will get your point across, but if you are not a beginner, you will be laughed at for these. It is good for practice and such, but if your doing a performance I dont suggest you get it. They look childish. Heck, I bet one of these come in every magic set a kid gets on his birthday. My suggestion: Get the penguin cups. If not, at least get the aluminum cups and balls. Trust me, you will be much happier.

The Cups Runneth Over with Balls Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on April 27th, 2003
This trick, when I found out the secret, made me want to discount it right away. But after learning it and showing some people, I was amazed at the effect. IT is a great penetration that can be used all sorts of ways. By itself, as comedy, with some mindless patter, it doesn’t matter. It is a very versatile trick and easy to master. This trick grows as I grow. At first it worked. But as I learn sleights and different handling techniques, the cups and balls routine is enhanced greatly. I love the variety of this trick. 4.5 of 5 stars

AMAZING AND CLASSIC Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on October 11th, 2003
This trick is amazing! The colors capture the spectator's attention, and even the basic routine that is included with this trick is amazing! Barely any practice is needed, though you should perform it once or twice alone! Definitely add this to your cart and call yourself a "magician"!

I recommend this to any magician, especially beginners beacase the effect is really cool. People are either like "I know how you do that" or "hey that's cool!" I think you should get it for the low price of 3 bucks!
