the ideas and the routines are really good. well, it takes some practice(more than usual)to find a complete routine that suits you and master it. there are two reasons I give it only three star:
-First, it is quite expensive. -Second, the dvd could be a bit more helpful at some points. you are probably going to understand every routine but sometimes it will be quite difficult... All in all, if you are willing to practice it a lot before you try it in public, give it a try Did this review help you?
Wilson goes a little fast in the explanations, but after watching the DVD a few times, it is easy to perform the effects. He gives you so much material to work with. You can easily pick 4 or 5 effects out of the batch and make your own ruin that fits you best. Excellent buy!

I wrote a post earlier about the fact that I got a ribbon instead of a cord, but after actually practicing the routines, I find the ribbon to be easier to use. I decided to find a rope/cord and I actually found it harder to work with. So the ribbon is a fantastic substitute.
I did find that some of the explinations are rushed a bit and as a result I had to slow it down and rewind multiple times. So thats my -1 star. Otherwise it very very entertaining and laymen love it! Did this review help you?
It seems a bit expensive at first but you will definitively get a working ring and string routine out of this

This video is excellent! Well researched and a very definitive volume of all ring on rope illusions.... Gregory Wilson makes the video interesting and fun... Gregory teaches so many different moves and sleights you're sure to find enough to make a complete routine... 5 Thumbs Up for a man who did his research and really knows the subject.....
I will watch for other material from Gregory Wilson.. Thanks Penguin!(bought this in the $99 deal) Did this review help you?
Some have commented that it comes with a cheap ribbon instead of the plush cord as advertised. True, but don't let that stop you. This is one DVD that goes extensively into many, many moves you can perform. It was very well thought out and very well explained. I gave it a shot with the cheap ribbon, and kind of like it. Because the ribbon is flat, it lends itself well to hiding the debth of a cord that is doubled. The DVD is worth every penny, with or without the cord.

a break from the cards

Wilson says it right: this is a break from the cards. The challenging thing is teaching your fingers the new sleights but once you get it down it is great fun especially when you really use the spectator's ring at all costs.
I must agree with a previous comment: it is misleading when Greg uses a fancy beautiful cord and we get shop-bought ribbon. For the price I feel a cord like Greg's could have been provided. you can still perform the phases with the ribbon but I do find it a bit too lite for me and I need to adjust. Otherwise thumbs up. Professional rope is replaced with cheap ribbon

Probably Penguin won't let this review in as I am sure they don't want sales to drop. When you watch the video you can see that Gregory is using a professional looking rope with this purchase. Instead of the rope you get Christmas wrapping ribbon. It looks like someone just took off a piece and cut it. In my opinion it just takes away from the trick. In the DVD he even says he doesn't use a shoelace because it doesn't look professional and that is why you get this nice fancy velvet cord.... which you don't. The Video is a bit misleading. Excellent video of sleights, just disappointed in the blue ribbon. :(

The slights are typical ring on string routines. Good video, but a bit over priced.

This is one of the best things I have ever purchased. It teaches you fantastic ring and string sleights that are easy to do, don't look awkward and work. I didn't have any idea how to do any moves before this DVD then after watching a few times I had an AMAZING complete routine. Most instructional DVDs cost less but this deserves the price tag because it is solid gold.
