"Atlas is a new friend and a talented one. I always look forward to everything he is willing to share and you should do the same." - Michael Weber

'Every time I have a conversation with Atlas I'm inspired, my creative juices are flowing and I get excited about mentalism all over again.' - Ken Dyne (Full time mentalist, and author of Bairn)

"Atlas is one of my favourite mentalists, having fooled and entertained me many times with his original and creative ideas." - Marc Oberon

"I won't lie. I don't really know much about Atlas and his work, but what I do know is, when he did Train-Tracking on me I was so fooled I punched the fu*k*r." - Andy Nyman

"Atlas Brookings, hands down, has one of the most deviously clever minds in the business. His efforts are always clear, direct and as close to real as you can get. I absolutely love this guy and GUARANTEE that you will too!" - Michael Murray

"Atlas Brookings is one of the creative new minds in mentalism who is enthusiastically, and with great skill, helping to define mentalism in the 21st Century. His contributions have given mentalists valuable additions to their arsenals of techniques and I predict that we'll be seeing many more innovative things from him in the years to come." - Bob Cassidy

"Atlas Brookings is outstanding, his contribution to mentalism in a relatively short space of time is phenomenal. His Train Tracking technique is as close to real mind reading as you will ever get. His work on impromptu propless mentalism has set a new standard and it actually works." - Marc Spelmann

"Atlas is shining a light on a brand new landscape for the mind reader. Opens doors previously sealed tightly shut. Watch, listen and learn." - Luke Jermay

What will he teach?

The Power of Impromptu, Propless Mentalism

Join Atlas as he examines the strengths and limitations associated with propless mentalism techniques. He'll discuss when to go propless, the correct way to present the material, and how to handle those situations when things don't go exactly as you'd planned – teaching you the right and wrong way to fail when using these approaches.

Tune in and discover how to do some amazing things when you have only your wits about you.

At this lecture, Atlas will teach you some of his favorite propless effects, many of which have never been published before:

CloudNine – A short personality reading that finishes with telling someone the day, month, and year they were born.

Comicle – Tell someone the name of the superhero they are thinking of.

Disney Dynamite – Name the animated Disney film you participant has in mind.

Forward Thinking – You play an association game wherein your participant only answers in their mind and selects only one of the responses they freely thought of. You then reveal their thoughts.

Imbalanced – An impromptu murder mystery game, wherein you not only name the murderer, but you reveal whether someone chose to be honest or to attempt to deceive you.

Speed Trap – Within moments of meeting someone, tell them the make and color of the car they have in their garage at home.

Quinnfluence – A series of free choices lead three participants to three random thoughts, which are then promptly revealed.

Who is he?

Good-natured, with a dry and self-deprecating style, Atlas is no good at writing up his bio.

He is:

A) ...sure he'll just sound like a jerk, and

B) ...not all that sure anyone will be impressed.

When he asked other people what they'd say if they had to write this up for him, some of the suggestions included:

'Atlas is twice the man I am... but I understand he's dieting.' (Ken Dyne)

'Atlas is a guy I hang out with sometimes... when nobody else is available, and even then, I wonder what re-runs I'm missing on the telly.' (Looch)

Perfectly satisfied with those endorsements, Atlas wrote them up and sent them off to Penguin.

Inexplicably, they weren't entirely happy.

So, as it was clear that nobody else was going to do it, Atlas had to write his bio up himself. So far, the best he has (and trust me, this makes him sound much more capable than he actually is – so take it with a grain of salt) is that he was born sometime in the middling past, is now big enough to dress himself, and performs mentalism full time - which is worrying because he is better at writing up his bio than he is at mentalism and we've seen how cringeworthy this bio is so far.

He has worked for some recognizable brands but doesn't really want to drag them down by mentioning his name in connection with theirs. One exception is that gig he did for McDonald's - such is his devotion to the place that it was something akin to being asked to perform for God himself.

So yeah... he was pretty excited there...

I think that's about it. Atlas performs for a living.... and he's written a number of books on mentalism, so there's that.

That's pretty much... Oh wait! One more thing that will change the entire complexion of this bio! Atlas has recently learned how to change fonts in his word processor. So for the greatest impact, view this whole blurb in Bebas Neue!!

Fantastic material from a genuine (and genuinely brilliant) guy Report this review

As the title of my review suggests - I thought that Atlas did a FANTASTIC job. He possessed a sincerity and "down-to-earth'ness" that I've found lacking in some lectures.

Below I've listed some brief thoughts about each of the routines Atlas shared, but first I wanted to emphasize that some of the more important concepts discussed appear "between the explanations." Even if you choose not to employ the techniques Atlas teaches (and as a far as propless material goes they are VERY surefire), his thoughts/attitude towards missing are excellent (let's face it, even conventional "safe" methods CAN fail). He also discusses how to incorporate misdirection into mentalism - a topic that, while intuitive, is not often mentioned in the community. And finally, the obvious passion for the craft, as well as a principle technique, is simply contagious!

Now some thoughts about the "effects" proper:

CLOUDNINE – This won't suit everyone in every performing situation, but if you're looking for a solid (propless) "conversational" way of revealing someone's date of birth (day AND year) than this a good one to have in your back pocket for the right moment.

COMICLE/DISNEY DYNAMITE – These both utilize the same technique that Atlas is quite known for and are both excellent themes for this sort of work.

FORWARD THINKING – This is a hybrid of two techniques - the one used in the previous two routines combined with another that is quite fun and powerful. This is another fantastic piece of conversational mentalism with a great presentational framework.

IMBALANCED – Relying on a COMPLETELY different set of techniques to those used in the earlier part of the lecture Atlas provides you with an extremely fun, easy, and commercial routine that can play extremely large.

SPEED TRAP – This is very much related to the principle technique taught in the lecture but takes it in new directions that open up many doors.

QUINNFLUENCE - Those familiar with the work of Joshua Quinn will recognize the underlying ideas of this routine - nonetheless, it makes for a fun "macro" piece. For me this is best suited as a brief demonstration in the preamble of a larger routine about influence.

In summary: this lecture is well worth your study!

Well done Atlas!

This is how propless mentalism should look like Report this review

I wasn't sure what to expect from this lecture before I bought it but I was hoping it wasn't filled with routines based purelly on psychological forces that wouldn't work half of the times.
Luckily, in this lecture that is not a problem. Although Atlas takes advantage of certain psychological forces or other characteristis of the way people normally think about certain topics or in certain situations he uses other principles in conjuction with that to make the effects solid.
Although I cannot use some of Atla's routines due to the fact that I don't perform in English and some effects are based on certain words that are possible for the spectator to think, his routines and thinking behind them have inspired me to come up with my own routines in my native language utilising the same method.
Lastly, one of his routines called "Imbalance" if I am not mistaken is worth the price of the download itself. For me at least, there might be others that might not agree but I think it is genious. It's a propless routine for determining who is lying or telling the truth with 4 spectators all wrapped in the presentation of a murder mystery. You also get to find out who the killer is at the end.

Propless Mentalism, why? Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on May 15th, 2015
There are two main reasons you should watch this lecture if you are performing mentalism.

First is that you will be able to learn some systems that will allow you to perform when you're in the shower without a swami, and you will see an inspiring level of proficiency with the concept (but don't worry he's not in the shower during the lecture.)

The second reason is that Atlas explains how to use propless mentalism to heighten routines that also involve props and bring everything up a notch.

I use one of his systems now almost every day. I vowed not to write a review on anything unless I start using it regularly or something really blows me away. This lecture did both.

I also love that Atlas celebrates the work that must be done to perform this stuff well, he gets that the good stuff that will set you apart from the pack is the hard stuff. So know that, no, this is not easy stuff, it takes work and repetition, but also know that it's way worth it.

Just what I was looking for, some close up impromptu, propless mentalism and it didn't disappoint. I thought this lecture was fantastic, I am a mechanical engineer and i like structured approaches, rather than lots of psychological methods, so these effects were perfect. I am still new to this, i've been doing mentalism for less than 1 year. I had the opportunity to watch this lecture on a flight to NY and had learnt the 'comicle' effect before i got off the plane. I have since tried it and the reactions were great. Atlas did a great job of explaining with clear instructions. I really enjoyed his presentations, very natural performer. I am also very lucky to own his book Train Tracking, also AMAZING!!!!!!! Atlas is a very clever bloke!!!

Definitely recommend. 5 Stars, no questions!!

Dilemma Report this review

I'm caught in a dilemma: This is so good that I actually genuinely wish it was limited to fewer people to protect the material, BUT...

...Mr. Brookings is so friendly and has this joy about him that he deserves all the success coming to him.

I'd be shocked if you gained nothing from this lecture. Even if the material isn't the right fit for you, Atlas' creativity and complex problem-solving is an inspiring approach to mentalism as we know it. I believe this statement will tell you the worth and value of this lecture:

I can say with confidence that if Alexander were alive today, this would be at the very top of his list of secrets.

These secrets are worth being guarded. PLEASE respect this as art. It is not novelty to be discarded.

Well the tittle says it all recently, one of the the best live lectures from undoubtedly the best prop free mentalists around. Branching anagrams are a big part of his work and he shows you how they work and gives you some tips to make them seem so convincing! Every part of this lecture is explained well and everyone will find something that will fit into their repertoire. Top job Atlas and Penguin!

Very inspiring lecture Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on May 31st, 2015
The first routine (birthday revelation) already justifies the price of the Lecture. I appreciate it very much, it leaves a lot of room for jazzy work and it´s a vlot of fun. But, you have to learn the structure and it is special effect for the right spec at the right time. Not for everyday.

The other effects are primarily constructed for the english language, not for the german language, but the way Atlas teaches the method is very inspiring and I learned a lot of new aspects and applications of this well-known method.
Last but not least: Atlas is very helpful.
